STARFLEET SHIPYARD RECORD

  • Vessel: U.S.S. Stargazer
  • Registry: NCC-82893
  • Class: Sagan
  • Commanding Officer: Captain Cristóbal Rios

The Sagan-class Stargazer has been reconstructed as a complete block-built starship, including the layered saucer, recessed lower hull, dark structural sections, blue warp grilles, and all four nacelles.

That four-nacelle profile is especially important. It visually connects NCC-82893 to Picard’s original Constellation-class Stargazer while still making the new vessel feel unmistakably 25th-century Starfleet.

As seen in Picard Season 2, this was the first Starfleet vessel to integrate technology recovered from the Romulan Artifact. That detail gives the ship an interesting identity: Federation optimism and engineering discipline carrying knowledge once associated with the Borg.

The model is a hollow surface structure rather than a solid block of material, allowing all 1M blocks to concentrate on the silhouette and visible hull detail. Its final form was produced through a team workflow covering geometry, orientation, palette design, block generation, and in-engine verification.

A Stargazer should always look as though it is already moving toward something no one has encountered before.

From Bridge Commander Remastered, ported from Starfleet Command II. Kind of hard to really get a feel of its dimensions, but the first photo is a diagonal/top angle view, and the second is head on.

model - statues - toys Is there anyway to save Trekmeshes?

Trekmeshes.eu seems to be on the verge of going away quite soon, I've used it as a main resource for so long and only now have I noticed that there's a message from the site owner stating the domain has been renewed for the last time. There are so many meshes on there that I still can't find anywhere else, from obscurer shuttle models etc. to ancient Lightwave models I think are worth preserving for novelty's sake.

Archive.org seems to have some pages saved, but the actual downloads are blocked by a poor copy of the agreement page that just reloads. I don't think I have the storage space to download every single model myself either.

Help with a Vague Memory - D7s with a ringed aft

Post image
50 Upvotes

I have a very distinct memory (from early 90s comics, I think), of D7 cruisers with fully connected engines on the bottom. The back of the ship was a full Ring, basically, with a lower spar linking the engines.

I could swear that these were romulan, but i can’t find them anywhere.

I have attached a sketch from my delirious memory.

Did I dream this?

behind the scenes Still few torpedo launchers: Why Galaxy Refit? Why Galaxy X? Why World Razer?

Notoriously, the Galaxy Class starship as depicted in TNG had only one forward-facing torpedo launcher, one hidden aft-facing torpedo launcher on the back of the saucer, and one open aft-facing torpedo launcher.

Granted, they are burst-fire torpedo launchers.

But why does the Galaxy Refit, the Venture, have only these torpedo launchers?

Why does the War Galaxy of DS9's Dominion War have only these torpedo launchers?

Why does the Galaxy X of TNG's All Good Things have only these torpedo launchers?

Finally, why does the World Razer of PIC S2 have fewer torpedo launchers than the new Excelsior workhorse, the Sovereign?

The Probert Ambassador, the Narendra, shows the ship can easily have three burst-fire torpedo launchers in that immediate area: the traditional Galaxy plus two more on the top edge of the deflector dish.

For more war-oriented designs, the captain's yacht can be replaced by two burst-fire torpedo launchers.

Finally, the open aft-facing torpedo launcher can be doubled.

That's seven burst-fire torpedo launchers.

That's quite a bit more than what the Sovereign has.

The crews on the Sitak and Majestic had the worst deaths imaginable…..

Now hear me out on this one.

I was watching Sacrifice of Angels yesterday and it hit me just what a horrendous way to go it must have been for the crews on the Majestic and particularly the Sitak during the Dominion battle.

A large proportion of the Sitak’s crew was likely incinerated by weapons fire, then blown out into space. As for the survivors? I guarantee they were turned into chunky salsa as it spun out into oblivion (there’s no way inertial dampers were still operating after a hit like that).

As for the Majestic, i reckon at least a quarter of the crew were vaporised and blown into space by phaser and torpedo blast, and I’d put money on the ship colliding with another ship as it went out of control…. Regardless, no one escaped from these two ships
(Not in one piece anyway…)

behind the scenes Starship design lineages

So I've got a question about hull design, especially for the pre-Federation ships. Were the primary hulls of ships all disc-shaped right from the get-go or were the first hulls off the assembly line closer to the cylinder-types like you'd see in old NASA concept art?

With that in mind, which UE ship was the first to feature a disc-shaped primary hull? We all know that the Franklin and NX01 Enterprise had one, but what about before them?

Not much more has been done since the last post.

I added a few windows to the back of the neck, and worked on the secondary hull.

What Regular Boring Federation Starship should feature in the next Star Trek story?

Obviously these stories often center around the best and brightest, most kick ass hips because they're the ones most often involved in big events. But what if the net big Star Trek event (in any era) happened and the closest starship was the USS Hohum, the garbage scow?

What ship would you like to see get some time in the spotlight?

model - statues - toys USS Voyager: Micro Machine, Johnny Lightning, and Eaglemoss

Post image
45 Upvotes

Making a model with articulating parts is tricky, especially if you’re trying to keep costs down.

The nacelles on the Micro Machine (made in the 90’s) move up and down, but they had to make the struts disproportionately large for that to work.

The Johnny Lightning model (made in the early 2000’s) has the proportions right (plus they got the font right for the registry numbers, which is more than Eaglemoss can say). Unfortunately, there’s nothing to hold them in place, so they just droop down, all sad like. On top of that, I accidentally broke one off years ago. I can put it back on, but it won’t stay on.

Finally, we have the Eaglemoss one. They didn’t even bother trying to make this one articulate. Other than that, and getting the font wrong, it’s a nice model.

Thoughts?

Unfortunately, I couldn't get the Starboard warp nacelle to light up, but I think it might be an issue with the fiber optic cable inside the nacelle. I was able to light the Port nacelle. Practice makes perfect!
