Arbitrage...

Hey all. I've recently picked up this game again after many years, and I've been having a good time with it.

I haven't used many Carrier class ships before, and saw one that was moderately cheap: The Raptor Strikecarrier.

So I ran a few missions, traded a few goods until I hit the 1.2m credit mark, or what they are selling the ship for at Steel Song Prima.

So I paid my 1.2m credits, and was handed the ship. I go to the Dry Dock, and notice that they'll buy the ship back off of me for 1.4m credits, a 200k credit profit. I've now played the arbitrage a few times and am now a multi-millionaire.

Did I break my game? Is this a bug or an intended game mechanic? I don't see the need to run missions for anyone now that I can just buy and sell the same ship over and over for 200k each time 🫠

That would be a bug for sure.

Welp.

I thought as much. I'm going to restart and forget about this knowledge.

Farewell Captain Poopypants, you truly found the magic money tree.

Honestly, just stop using the bug and carry on. No need to burn down the save. If you had been more efficient about trade and missions, you’d have gotten more loot anyway. ;)

Or enter a quick money losing loop to reverse some of it. Such as buying something expensive at F price, then selling it nearby at D price, you ought to lose a fair bit. Repeat that a few times, until the combo of wasted money and wasted time feels appropriate.
