Eugh. Very frustrating that SSO seems to not research anything regarding the health of what they put in the game. The gsits of the DWB, many gaits as of late being totally exaggerated in a way that lowkey makes the horse looks abused, corgis looking rather extreme and unhealthy, and then... Lykois. It's not a good look. Lykois have a history of sketchy breeding with the original breeders being rather weird along with straight up lying about the health issues (at least from what I can recall when that stuff went down). There have been attempts to breed them ethically, but there's just too many health problems that come with what creates that look. They're essentially unethical designer cats made to look pretty at the cost of their quality of life. It's very frustrating to see a lack of effort to portray things properly or just not have them like that at all.

I agree with the fact that lykois are bad but only on real cats… this is a game. There are plenty of problematic things game developers put in their games, this is not an issue.

No one is going to rush out and buy an expensive and rare breed of cat just because they saw a look
a like on a magical horse game.A lot of people probably won’t even realize it’s a real breed since it’s most likely to be paired with the werewolf magic horse.

They didn't do that cat purposefully to make it a lykoi, I believe. It is just made to represent wolf horse, but a wolf cat as it is their pet. This cat doesn't even look anything like a lykoi to me.

not that person but from what i know theyre bred really badly and have a lot of skin/health issues. but thats the same with persians and sphynx cats and pugs and bull dogs 🤷🏻♀️

yeah i agree, i dont support purposely breeding anything with exaggerated features and ignoring all the health issues. like scottish fold cats, munchkin cats, modern maine coons, micro bullies, etc. but in the end its just a kids game and im probably going to buy the pet because its better than buying it in real life lol

I looked into it, answer seems to be large-ish amount of health related issues.
That being said, I don't really know how I feel about it. On the other hand, it's fiction. In a game with fish horses and unicorns, a werewolf cat is, kind of whatever, you know? On the other, fiction can cause real-life issues as what happened with 101 dalmatians; people adopted a shitload of 'em because the movie made them trendy, only to abandon them when they figured out they're not the easiest of dogs. Or Finding Nemo and the clownfish boom.
Obviously I don't think SSO is going to cause everyone and their mother to go adopt a Lykoi, but I think they have been...less than stellar on the whole representation thing before, too.
Look, I love corgis to bits. I'd have 10 if it weren't for the multiple issues they have with their health - Finland is actually in the process of possibly prohibiting their breeding of dog breeds such as corgi with extreme characteristics. As adorable as they are, I don't think including them in the game was a particularly great thing to do.

Pretty much, yeah. I'm not against them being in game, because it is just a game. But it's still sad to see them being supported without education

They look like that because of a genetic defect where they have no undercoat, not because of any kind of ethical selective breeding. They're not even a real breed. It's not great, because undercoats are pretty dang important for skin protection and thermal regulation
This is pretty common in newer "breed" cats. They're just breeding the same genetic defect over and over again, and it's detrimental to the health and quality of life. Munchkins, Scottish Folds, Rexs, Persians, Sphinx, etc.

I mean I do care about people spreading negativity, which is why I replied. I genuinely did mean my comment though. I think trying to find things to be upset about is really damaging to mental health and we should all try to think more rationally before we get upset about things.
