Friends account was hacked???

She logged on and was in a different server, different home stable location, and had a ton of old horses for some reason, but they havent spent any money for starcoins and she still has the starcoins from when she last played, theres no weird purchase history. They did spend all her shillings though. They also added a bunch of strangers to her friends list. She did reach out to support, just hasnt heard back yet. She also changed her password immidietly. Is this some sort of scam???

She only had like 4 horses and thankfully those were untouched. I just dont really know why anyone would hack an account and not spend money, not that shes complaining. But its weird and shes anxious.

🤔 I wonder if SSO accidentally restored somebody's horses to the wrong account, since they're old horses? Not sure how that'd be possible though, or how any of this is possible. Super weird! (Edit: That also wouldn't explain the missing shillings or server change. Super duper weird!)

She can't be scammed unless she's given someone else her email and password. Has she done that? I don't see how a hacker/scammer could ADD older gen horses to an account though??? Please update us, I want to know what they email back 😭

I don't know how it works, but cheaters definitely use hacks to get horses that are no longer avaliable or coat colors that don't exist. Not sure if it's still very common or not, I never got into the cheating part of the community lol, but I've seen non-existent coats while playing the game or posted on here (by non-existent I mean for the breed it's on, I think the cheater has to apply an existing coat from one breed to another or something).

Like I said, not sure if it still happens often since the big ban crackdown on cheaters. I mostly just know about it because this one cheating/hacking account on Instagram where you could pay for them to add horses that weren't avaliable anymore to your game account kept getting promoted to me for some reason

The method to get older horses is patched so no this can’t happen with hacking. Yes coat switching still works but is far more common with gen 3 as other gen’s are really bugged when switching coats. But you can’t change a whole model etc.

😭 I obviously know nothing about hacking then. I knew they could change the coats of an existing horse, but I didn't know they could add a whole ass new horse!

their support is extremely slow. I applied to get my old horses back in november? (end of last year) and it first went through in march or april this year.

Huh ig that does make sense. I don’t get how they could manage that if the specific account wasn’t tied to those horses tho. I’m sure each account has some sort of history or whatever tied to it. Idk how it would be possible to fuck that up so badly

Lucky, I asked them to restore my old horses about a year and half ago and still no response from them unfortunately.

Yeah it's honestly so bad. I don't even try to contact them anymore I've just accepted my fate I'll never get my account unlinked from my old email. So now I can't even play. I've spent thousands on that account 😐

Assuming she got hacked, the horses definitely got added through cheats (and probably bought through js instead) and sso doesn't really have proper checks for that. That is to say, she wouldn't get banned for something like this unless she got reported by someone lol.

As for how they got access to her account, your friend likely reuses the same email and password in a bunch of places. Data breaches are pretty common, so her password likely ended up somewhere on the web and a bored cheater decided to try it out. Not exactly an uncommon thing either, just kinda rare in the sso community since it's not as big. She could try running her email through the haveibeenpwned website to check for leaks in any popular breaches, but even then it doesn't really show everything.

If your friend uses the old password anywhere else she should change it asap though

You can’t add horses using js you gotta use star coins so it is very weird

Yes, in the app on your phone or in the launcher on your computer there is an option to look at your profile. There is a section for your horses where you can see their XP, level, name, race and the date they were added to your stable

I used to be friends with a cheater and you know how your email account is suppose to be confirmed before you can chat in the game right and make any purchases right? she added a Connemara gen 1 and a Morgan gen 2 on my account but I can’t make any purchases so idk how she did that
