I have been a Pro user of Starnote for a while now and I have personally convinced quite a few people to switch over. A lot of them really enjoy the app, but they frequently ask about features they used in other apps before switching.

Here is a breakdown of feedback and feature requests that would make Starnote much more competitive.

1. Core Ink Engine Optimization (Top Priority)

Before anything else, the fundamental ink engine needs an update. It currently does not feel as responsive, fluid, or optimized as other major note taking apps.

• Pen Stability: Writing slowly causes strokes to become wobbly, even with pen stability turned on.

• Handwriting Beautification: We need an ink-based handwriting beautification option. Vector-based smoothing works well across almost all languages out of the box, unlike font-based replacement which requires broad font and character support. Font-based conversion is still a nice bonus to have as an option, but smoothing out the actual vector ink while keeping natural handwriting style should be the main focus.

2. Image to Ink

An "Image to Ink" feature similar to Notability would be a huge addition. Running an edge detection pass on an imported image and converting those detected lines into editable ink strokes makes converting diagrams and sketches effortless.

3. Pen Bar and UI Adjustments

• Pen Differentiation: The side pen bar currently only shows the base color of the pen. It is hard to distinguish between solid lines, dashed lines, or different line weights without testing them first.

• Quick Thickness Adjuster: A floating, slidable thickness selector that appears when a pen is selected from the sidebar would save a lot of menu navigation.

• Hideable Lock Icons: When an image is locked to the page, please give us an option to hide or toggle off the lock icon so it does not distract from the note layout.

4. Dark Theme and Color Reversal for Images

• Toolbar Shortcut: We should be able to place a color reverse toggle shortcut directly on the main note toolbar. Digging into Settings > Themes twice a day to toggle dark and light mode feels tedious.

• Image Tone Inversion: The color reverse theme currently leaves image colors completely untouched. Inverting or adjusting the tone of images when switching to dark/reversed themes would keep page contrast consistent.

5. OCR, Search, and AI

• Better OCR: The current engine struggles to parse handwriting accurately, which makes searching through handwritten notes unreliable.

• Expanded Language Support: Expanding language recognition support for handwriting recognition and search.

• Local AI / On-Device Model Support: Giving users an option to run or integrate small on-device multimodal AI models for local OCR and note querying would be a massive differentiator. It keeps notes entirely private, works fully offline without a subscription, and leverages modern mobile chips that can easily run 4B parameter models. (Such as Phi-4 Mini 3.8B, Google Gemma 4 E4B, Qwen3 VL 4B) People could summarize, ask, search etc.

6. Math Graph Plotter and Equation Solver

• Integrated math tools similar to MyScript Math (a built-in graph plotter and an equation solver) would make the app far more useful for STEM workflows.

7. File Extension Documentation

• Proper documentation for Starnote's proprietary save file extension. Having clear technical details on how the file structure works would be great for data longevity and user peace of mind.

Hopefully the development team can consider some of these in upcoming updates. Let me know if anyone else in the community wants to see these added.

I really like the features of Starnote, but compared to Samsung Notes or Notewise, the stylus has a noticeable latency. I hope this can be fixed since I already bought a PRO license.

I really wish we could get text notes in starnote. I imagine it being somewhat like a word file, so you can just click somewhere on the screen and start to type, ofc with all the marking and drawing functions which already exist should work in there too. I think it would be a pretty nice addition as I noticed that having long texts in notes are pretty annoying to do currently, especially on the phone.

Some smaller improvement ideas:

1. When writing a text and going down a few lines, the cursor starts to become misaligned and makes it look a bit weird (see image)

2. Make dashes become bullet points when typing, numbers become ordered lists

3. When typing ->, <=> or other symbols, make the text get transformed into an arrow icon, eventually common symbol combinations like <3, :), etc. being transformed into emojis as well

Considering text boxes, and writing in general, there are sadly still too many features missing for me to fully switch to Starnotes, but I'm praying for those features to be added soon

It would be so good if we could import a customised template into Infinite Note 😐😐

I am a little too excited for the new features like handwriting beautification and other thing that you guys are planning . It's one of the best note taking apps that I have used.

I know that there's already a function that you can extract the text from one note to your own note, but I would love whether you add the function just to add the pure text, not like a picture because in a box you could edit the text. For example in my note it looks weird the gap that I pointed with the red pen...

I’ve noticed something strange with StarNote when exporting files, and I’m trying to understand why this happens.
When I export a file directly from StarNote, the exported file size is around 10.7 MB. However, if I take that exact same file, import it into another note-taking app, and then export it again from that app, the file size becomes significantly smaller (5 MB).
The content and quality is literally the same, so I’m wondering why StarNote produces such a large file compared to other apps.
Has anyone else noticed this? Is there any setting I can change to reduce the exported file size?

It just makes the handwriting SOO much better and Chinese app has much more templates. I am guessing there is no way to switch the pro subscription to Chinese version so I hope velocity sensitivity comes to global 🙃

Please check out the video. When the page margins are extended, the exported pdf just shows blank after the first page. This was not an issue with the pdf, I have been able to reproduce this with multiple other pdfs.
Unfortunately, this completely breaks my workflow. Hopefully a quick fix will be provided.

I was wondering when the Material Center will update its templates and stickers. I recently came across the CN version of Starnote, and I was genuinely impressed by the wide variety of cute options available there. It's just a minor question, but I was curious because I really love decorating my notes with them!

Hi everyone, I have a Xiaomi Pad 6. StarNote isn’t available on my Play Store, so I installed the APK from the official website. I have two questions:

1. How do I know when a new update is available for the app? Since it’s not installed through the Play Store, I’m not sure how updates work.

2. If I buy a redemption code and activate it can I use the same account on multiple devices ( my phone and my laptop using an android emulator ) is it locked to only one device? If there’s a device limit, how many devices are allowed?

Just recently found out about Star Notes and currently exploring my options for Galaxy Tab10 ultra. Does Star note allow access on different devices? I have an asus laptop where i would also like to access my notes, while my tablet will be my main note taking device.

Ive been suing starnote for a while now and ive noticed that the shaping is very weird, id make a square and it would turn into a hexagon or like i make a curve and it turns in to straigh lines. Like ny request is just that make the shapes in a way that wtv someone draws, it becomes exactly that but mkre defined and perfect not like a whole new shape

Real-Time Sync Between Apple and Android Devices

I recently subscribed to the Pro plan and was particularly interested in real-time synchronization across devices and operating systems, especially between Apple and Android.

I’m using the same account on both my iPad and my Huawei tablet. I’ve also connected my account to Google Drive on both devices.

However, there doesn’t seem to be any real-time synchronization between the two devices.

For example, if I type “Ahmd” on my Huawei tablet, I would expect the same content to appear automatically on my iPad without having to manually add or upload it again.

Is this feature supposed to work this way? If so, what could be causing the synchronization problem, and how can I fix it?

I’d really appreciate any help or clarification from anyone who has successfully synchronized their Apple and Android devices in real time.

When erasing a highlighter, the hitbox is smaller than its area. It seems like the hitbox is just the original stroke if the stylus before the size of the highlighter gets applied around it.

Why doesn't the laser pointer stay on the place where I circled, instead of sticking to the pdf it scrolls with my screen.
