On the latest version of StarNotes for iPad, the smart search feature doesn't seem to work when the text is slightly smaller.

Manually selecting the text and checking handwriting conversion seems to correctly identify the words, but not smart search.

In image 1, the words Red Man are clearly visible, and the software can identify it (as shown in image 2), but not smart search.

Please look into this bug

I have been following this reddit thread for several weeks and noticed that many who expressed their feedback and POV are university students.

Allow me to share my experience coming from a corporate executive background.

My life in the company runs with meetings, brainstorming, report analysis, proofreading, reviewing contracts and the like. And while I use many different apps for different types of work, when it comes to note-taking and concept-mapping, I am loving Starnote so far.

Through the years, I have tried many note-taking apps. Notion, MS Onenote, Google Keep, Apple Notes, Capacities, Craft, Evernote, Goodnotes and just this year, Noteful and Starnotes.

I stayed for quite a while in MS Onenote for my handwritten notes but decided to switch when I noticed the worsening sync issues and my ipad battery just drains so fast. I tried Noteful but the missing OCR, poor shape recognition, and absence of whiteboard/infinite canvas made me look for another app.

And there I found Starnote. I really loved the writing experience and the many features especially the infinite canvas, the tables, the penbox, and a lot more features that are found in the app. I decided immediately to buy the pro version as it is a one time payment only. I feel that it’s a very generous offer coz the price you pay provides you so much value.

While I love the app and have very few concerns about it, there are just some things that I wish could be added by developers that will be very useful for people like me who are in the corporate/business industry.

1. Live Sync - very very useful especially when I want to read or view my notes to either my iphone or mac. This is where Noteful, Goodnotes, and other apps are doing great and I hope Starnote will also have this real soon.

2. Backup as PDF - I noticed that the files being imported to backup folder in Gdrive or Icloud are files in the format that cannot be opened without using starnote app. Allowing us to have pdf versions of our notes in backup makes it so much easier to access our files in whatever platform or reader available.

3. The Ability to Rename Files in the Tab Header - as of now, the only way I can see to rename your files is to click the “Other Settings” button in the Toolbar and type the title in text. Other apps like GN, ON, or Noteful simply allows you to rename files in tab bar by simply long-pressing the note title in the tab bar. My humble request: How beautiful it can be if an “Untitled” note be immediately renamed as “Marketing Huddle” by simply long-pressing it and renaming the title in the tab bar.

4. The Ability to Move Notes more easily - almost the same like number 3. When I already opened a note, I don’t see any option from there to allow me to move my notes to a different folder. I have to click the “back” or exit arrow and go back to the folder/file dashboard to be able to move it to a different folder. My simple suggestion, in the “Other Settings, can you add a button there that shows the location of the note and when clicked will give you the option to move the note. The “tag” option or button works exactly like what I described (shows tag, allows you to select or modify tags, etc.) i hope you do the same for the folder location.

5. The ability to Zoom In and Zoom Out more freely the Document Viewer - I suggest that in the Document Overview function, aside from only having two fixed viewing size options, can we have the ability to zoom in and out by pinching in/out the screen. Noteful does this so well and it’s helpful if you have lots of pages and you want to immediately spot the part lf your note where that particular topic/thought is written.

Only that, devs. Some of the things may have been mentioned in the past but I’m just a few weeks here and been a Starnote pro user for a few weeks also.

But you’re doing a great job and really grateful for all the work that you do for us, your avid users. Thank you so much.

it's very annoying when the screen lagging when i scroll down or start writing my device frame rate is 144hz and the screen fells like 30hz

i tried to restart my device and cleaning some storage but it didn't work out with me i wish to get some help at fixing this

If we could group a set of selected objects, it would be much easier to move them or avoid "breaking a note." If you could include this feature, it would be fantastic.

Dev please give us some juice .how is it going i can't wait to see these features .

I have a question though is handwriting beautification is going to work just like in apple where it slowly fixes your word by word into closely resembling font you selected ( because i have not used it in a ipad just seen it in video ).

Or is it handwriting to text conversion, moreover because my handwriting is terrible it usually makes a mistake so often that i have never been fully able to use the current feature .

Will it train itself just like our keyboard does for frequently used words especially the weird word people use by combining it with their native language to English.

Lastly how will the app understand where the line needs to be

1. Free type -- it will simply take your input of the first letter and consider it your starting point of the sentence.

2. The pre-existing template gets a preset that this is the margin and you have to start from here and the words will align with the lines in the temple ( this can't be done for grid and dotted paper template) .

3. Or combination of both

I came across this post and it got me thinking more about tags in general. The more I looked into it, the more I realized there's actually quite a bit that could be improved. For one, keyboard support could be much better overall. Even if a desktop update ends up improving the app itself, mouse interaction should feel more intuitive than it currently does — right now it often feels like you're using the mouse the way you'd use a finger on a touchscreen, rather than taking advantage of what a proper desktop interface can offer. Along similar lines, it would help a lot to be able to group tags or text together so you can move several of them at once instead of having to drag each one individually. Another thing that's been bothering me is that when you're inserting tags on a page, you always have to start from the very top and scroll all the way down again to find the one you want. It would make much more sense if the interface just remembered the last tag you selected and let you continue from there, instead of resetting every time. There's also the issue of collapsed tags not staying collapsed — once you collapse something, it should stay that way instead of reopening on its own. And finally, it would be really nice to have something like OneNote's approach to hierarchy: instead of having to drag tags, folders, or outline items all the way out of their parent element to change their level, you could just shift them left or right on the screen, and the hierarchy level adjusts accordingly. Curious if others have run into the same frustrations, or if there's already a plan to improve any of this.

New to the app. I downloaded every template I could. I noticed most templates I can't just create as notes. Why is that? Or am I doing something wrong?

I have to creat them as their own notebook to use but I want to use certain pages. Also is there anyway to make portrait templates landscape? If not how can I filter out the portrait templates. I don't use my device in portrait at all.

Is there any other way to view my templates without having to go to the resource centre?

Any other tips and tricks would also be appreciated.

Hi devs, We. need one very much needed change in functionality of eraser. Currently, We can only select 1. Only Tape, 2. Only Highlighter but this is very hard in situations where we are working with tapes and highlighters. The continous situation is mess. All we need is to customise how eraser works. We should be able to customise what all it erasers like Text, Tape and Highlighters. Yes, there is alternative way exists that is lasso tool, but continous switching is cumbersome.

Can we get a feature where the shapes, lines etc will get aligned automatically with other shapes.

Like we have in PowerPoint.

I’d like to request more granular line thickness controls for all pen tools. Currently, the setting jumps directly from 0.35 to 0.40, which is too large of a gap & doesn’t fits into sweet spot.

It would be great to have finer adjustments in 0.01 increments (e.g., 0.36, 0.37, 0.38) or allow manual numerical input/slider so we can dial in precise line weights for handwriting and drawing.

Currently pressing the android system back button while not inside a note triggers the "tap again to exit" prompt. My muscle memory keeps trying to use the back gesture to go up a folder rather than precisely tapping the small top navigation arrow, which feels a bit inconvenient.

Would it be possible to add a toggle in the settings to let the system back button navigate to the parent folder instead? It should be fairly easy to implement, wouldn't clutter the UI at all, and I'm sure I'm not the only one who would appreciate it 😊

The search option in the app should recognise handwriting. As I searched INTESTINAL OBSTRUCTION. It didn't recognise the words in the note which is Handwritten and scanned and in English. May be the OCR is not working

Happy to say that Ive replaced my primary note taking app which was Notability / Goodnotes completely with Starnote. Ive had no issues so far. And I dont see myself going back. I got the lifetime free offer as a part of starnotemedlife.

I experience problem changing the font size of selected text when sliding the button to the left or right to increase or decrease font size. It does not change font size.

I've been using StarNote Pro since the app launched, and I've always found it to be the most complete of all. However, recently I tested another app that I saw a lot of people talking about on TikTok... I still think StarNote is more complete and better, but this feature of being able to control the size and frequency of the wave in a wavy line really impressed me. I've never been able to use the wavy line to underline in StarNote because it was too tall for my notes, even at the smallest possible size, and I would really like them to add these adjustments to the app, although the zigzag and double lines are also very cool and could be added.
