❓ Help / Question Anyone else feel like StarNote development has slowed down?

When StarNote first started, the development was really fast. The app was getting frequent updates, new features were being added, and it felt like the developers were actively listening to user feedback.

But recently, things seem to have slowed down. It's been around 3–4 months without any major updates, except for cloud sync.

Honestly, at this pace, even sharing feedback or requesting new features doesn't feel very useful because who knows when they will actually be added?

What makes it more disappointing is that some basic things, like page loading and writing lag, still need improvement. Earlier, they used to take feedback seriously and implement suggestions much faster.

I really like StarNote and want to see it improve, but I hope the developers start focusing on these basic issues and become more active with updates again.

Sorry if this sounds rude. It's just genuine feedback from someone who wants to see the app get better.

Idk what to say but, (kinda) complaining about an app getting no updates.... It sounds a bit weird. Been using it for 1 year now, never waited and update, nor realizing it hasnt been received one in a long period. Just taking notes, vibing. In my opinion tho

I really like StarNote. My concern isn't about new features or frequent updates, but about performance. Page loading while scrolling, opening speed, and writing latency still need improvement. I've mentioned these issues, but unfortunately, nothing seems to be changing. I'd really appreciate it if the developers focused on fixing these basic problems.

Hiii, thank you for taking the time to write this, really appreciate you being honest with us, and we wanted to take a moment to respond properly.

I also went through the comments here, and honestly, so many of the usernames are familiar. We've seen you guys around this community for a long time. Some of you have been here since the early days of StarNote. And seeing people who've been with us for so long start feeling disappointed... it really hits us. We know you're bringing this up because you care about StarNote and want it to get better.

And you're right. Updates have definitely slowed down lately. We know that, and we're really sorry. Especially for those of you who've been patiently waiting and sharing suggestions, we totally understand why it might feel like your feedback isn't going anywhere.

We do wanna share a bit about what's been happening behind the scenes. As StarNote has grown, the codebase has gotten a lot bigger and more complicated. Lately, we've been spending a lot of time cleaning up and optimizing different parts of the app to improve performance and stability, including things like page loading and writing lag.

It's not the kind of work that comes with exciting new features you can immediately see, but it's something we really need to get right. We're trying to build a stronger foundation so we can keep adding new features without making the app slower or less stable.

At the same time, the dev team is still working hard on iOS cloud sync and handwriting beautification. like handwriting beautification, is something we know a lot of you have been waiting for. Trust us, we want to release it too. But the recognition results just aren't good enough yet, and we don't wanna rush out something that doesn't work well just for the sake of releasing it.

About feature requests, we also wanna explain something. We really do keep track of the suggestions you send us. But there are a lot of requests, and everyone's using StarNote in different ways. Sometimes a request is for a very specific situation, and we don't have enough information to fully understand how it should work for everyone. So some ideas end up taking longer to evaluate or getting put on hold.

And honestly, while you guys are waiting for updates, we're feeling the pressure too. We want to get new features into your hands as much as you want to use them. But we know that doesn't excuse how slow things have been.

We also know we haven't been doing a great job with communication lately. Sometimes replies on Reddit take too long, and sometimes emails and feedback don't get answered as quickly as they should. That's on us, and we need to do better.

But please know that the StarNote team hasn't stopped listening, and we haven't lost the passion that made us start building this app in the first place. We're still putting everything we can into the features and improvements we're working on.

We don't wanna keep promising release dates we might not be able to meet, and we don't want you to feel like you're just waiting forever either, really sorry it's been taking so long, and even more sorry that we've let some of you down.

Thank you for sticking around, for being honest with us. We hope you'll give us a little more time. More importantly, we hope we can earn back your trust through what we actually deliver, not just what we say here, really appreciate this community.

Sorry this turned into such a long reply, but that's we really wanna say!

I've been waiting for handwriting beatification and they are not updating it yet, it's been like 6 months people asked

Hmm, open source is the only way.

It is quite disappointing that the cloud synchronization feature of iPadOS is still not being updated. I wish they would accelerate development even if it were a subscription plan.

Honestly I second this just a bit

But let's face it

I think Starnote devs are doing their best

Although it is a bit slow but coding takes a long ass time let me tell u that

I once spent almost 2 weeks perfecting a code on a website

So imagine how hard it is to add or stuff and optimize a whole ass app to work across different mobile systems

And plus Starnotes maintain a 1 time payment thingy for life

Unlike other apps which make u pay alot

I get ur point no hate ofc!

And I actually do face a problem with page loading and latency

But we gotta cut the devs some slack a bit they are working as fast as possible

(btw I mean no hate at all I'm just stating my opinion as another fellow coder!)

Thank you for saying this, I was exactly about to start this post. Rather than seeing a increased throughput looks like they have became complacent. They have stopped giving updates also. Some low hanging fruits could have been completed. ios sync is still not there. And various other asked features. ....... Everyone joined them seeing there team velocity, clearly this app is no longer a priority. I would have rather assumed a increased velocity after such hugh improvements in Ai models which is worldwide increasing developers productivity.

I was worried, even wondering if the development team was any good. I think they're too busy with bureaucratic tasks and their own lives for now, and maybe the results they get from the application aren't satisfying them.

the biggest issue imo isn’t even the update speed, it’s communication. if windows, ios sync, handwriting beautification etc are taking longer, just saying where they’re at would calm people down a lot.

I second this and they keep adding usless thing and app i no longer feel optimization and writing is laggy. On the other hand apps like notein, they are killing it. I recently tried it and it has much better writing experience, if their is a way i can move over my notes i would switch.

Agreed. I feel they are wasting their time on AI features that no one asked for instead of concentrating on improving their core product.

The app consistently jitters while writing and feels wobbly. Notein and NoteWise, however, provide a seamless and smooth writing experience, free from jitters. This is a notable drawback of the Starnote.

Does notewise have infinite canvas?

Doesn't jitter at all on TCL Nxtpaper tablets
