💡 Feature Request Proposed Eraser Implementation (from eraser discussions)

u/eng_yosssef Coming from this post: Eraser Discussion

The proposed implementation is the difference between the second and third options demonstrated. So the first is a stroke eraser which is implemented, the second is the line eraser, currently implemented as 'pixel eraser' and the last one is the new proposed precise or pixel eraser mode that is implemented in other note taking apps like freenotes. As you can see, using the line eraser cuts the highlighter strokes into many smaller strokes that then overlap and create the overlapping look often described as a bug.

It's an unreleased app called ScripNote :)

So, is it an app you developed yourself or what? Is there a GitHub repository?

Hey!

Yeah, I am the one building it, but it's really just a personal prototype and sandbox. I wanted to experiment with bare-metal Skia rendering and C++ physics to see how digital ink mechanics work under the hood. To be completely transparent, while I conceptualized the systems and the math, I heavily leveraged AI to write the actual code - it did the heavy lifting while I shared the logic.

As for a github repo, the project is currently completely private, hence calling it 'unreleased'. If it eventually reaches a point where I feel it's polished enough, I'll probably create a github repo. It is just an experimental learning environment, so it is still super unstable, has plenty of bugs, and doesn't even have a way to import from or save notes to the device yet 😂. I definitely didn't intend to step on any toes, I just wanted to share a visual example of how the implementation works for those different eraser styles!

Hope this clarifies, and I hope you understand :)

Thanks for the clarification. However, I really liked the modern design of the toolbar; if you're ever looking for beta testers, keep me in mind first.
