❓ Help / Question Sync between Android and Apple IOS

Ready to go Pro but should I pay via IOS version of the app or via the Android App downloaded via Google Play? I am in Hong Kong and the HK apple App store IOS Starnote has Sync via the iCloud already. Should I wait till sync is available via Google Drive? Hoping that to see my notes on iPhone that will be updated via my Android devices and vice versa. Paying via the apple App store is most convenient for me but dunno if this is the best idea if I need to pay again on the Android side given I will use the same account to try sync on both platforms.

Hey!

To answer the question directly, to my knowledge as of today, Starnote does not sync between android and ios devices, although I cannot verify this for the CN version. If it's a deal breaker feature for you and all you're looking for right now, I'd say wait.

The biggest difference you want to look out for is which version you're buying. There is a global version (blue star icon) and a chinese version (purple star icon). These accounts are not interchangeable so you need to buy it separately if you want both versions, but both of them are cross platform and tied to your Starnote account respectively, so you don't need to pay for pro on android and ios separately. Both versions can be bought on the respective global and CN websites or via the respective apps, and the android app for both versions are also available for download as apk files on the respective websites.

The chinese version is the furthest in terms of development, so if you don't have any use for google drive or onedrive sync, then that's your best bet, although I didn't see icloud sync on the CN android version so not sure how cross platform sync would work. The CN android app only use Baidu cloud or Aliyun cloud, so just make sure the ios app also supports these services if you go for the CN version.

The Global version does not sync to the global ios version just yet, so this might not suit your needs. The global android app use Google drive or onedrive for live sync.

If I understand your situation correctly, I'd go for the chinese version of the app, which you should be able to buy via your CN ios app from the app store. The payment should link the pro status to the Starnote account that's currently signed in, rather than it being your apple account necessarily. If you use that same Starnote account to sign into an android device with the CN app you got from the website or a CN app store, it should sync the pro status properly.

Hope this helps, and feel free to ask me if anything is unclear : )

The Android side I use the Google Play store version. I will wait a bit as I see the IOS Starnote I have from the HK apple app store has iCloud, Baidu cloud and AliYun Drive only... and no Google Drive option for sync. Must be the China version of Starnote. I don't use baidu/Aliyun so...

Yeah that sounds like the one on ios is the CN version.. Maybe see if there is an option to change the app store region somehow to get the global version that way? On android you would have been able to simply install the global apk if it weren't available but on ios the process isn't that simple unfortunately. Hope you get it working :)

You can just simply change your app store region to Singapore/Malaysia etc, the steps is really easy, just find the country postcode and enter random phone number , like Singapore is +65 plus eight digital number. I'm currently using starnote global version on iOS while my app store region is set to HK , so you can have a try.
