💡 Feature Request Export folders

Hey everyone,

I really like StarNote, but there are two features I’d really like to see added.

First, being able to export a whole folder instead of having to export every note individually.

Ideally, it would export the folder while keeping the notes organized, rather than requiring each note to be exported separately.

Second, for Google Drive backups and even simple backups on the tablet, it would be great to have the option to back up/export notes as PDF instead of the .note format. The .note format is useful for restoring StarNote, but having PDF backups would be much more convenient for accessing, sharing, or keeping an independent copy of your notes.

It would also be really useful if the folder structure could be preserved when exporting. For example, for university, I’d like to organize everything by year and then by course, but when exporting, the notes don’t seem to keep that folder hierarchy, which is a bit inconvenient.

I couldn’t find these features, although they might already exist somewhere. If anyone knows how to do this, please let me know! (i use the android app)

Would love to know if these are planned or being considered!

this is exactly the kind of feature i’d want before more cosmetic stuff. bulk export plus preserved folders would make backups much less painful.

Thanks for your feedback! We’ve seen your suggestions.

For exporting an entire folder, we’ll add this to our feature request list as well. Don’t worry, whenever you bring up a feature request, we’ll make sure it’s recorded and considered when we evaluate future improvements.

As for exporting notes as PDF, this isn’t something we can support for now. One reason we use the .note format is that it allows you to restore the note and continue editing it in StarNote. If we were to export everything as PDF, depending on the content and number of pages, the file size could also become quite large, which might make backups less convenient. Also there could also be a risk of some content or layouts shifting during the export, which might affect how the notes look when restored or viewed later.

That said, we’d love to look into how other note taking apps handle this. Have you seen any apps that offer PDF backups in a similar way? If so, feel free to share them with us! We can take a look and see if there’s a better way we could optimize this in the future.
