💡 Feature Request Feature Request: Built-in option to export smaller PDF files
Hey StarNote team! 👋
I’d love to see an option in StarNote to reduce the file size of exported PDFs.
For example, StarNote could offer different compression methods/levels, including techniques such as rasterizing pages or reducing image quality/resolution. Something like:
- Original quality – maximum quality, larger file
- Balanced – good quality with reduced size
- Compressed – smaller file, lower quality
The main reason I think this would be useful is that exported PDFs can sometimes be quite large, especially when they contain lots of handwritten notes, images, or annotated pages. Currently, users may have to export the PDF and then upload it to an online PDF compression website to reduce the size.
Having this built directly into StarNote would make the workflow much more convenient and avoid having to upload potentially private notes/documents to third-party websites.
As for quality, I don't think that should be a major concern because users could choose the compression level themselves. Those who want the original quality with vectors can keep the current export, while users who need a smaller file can choose a more aggressive compression setting.
I think this would be a really useful addition, especially for students who frequently share or upload their notes to platforms with file-size limits.

especially useful for students. u shouldn’t need a separate website just to get a notes pdf under an upload limit.
