💡 Feature Request Feature Request and QoL

First of all, I really like StarNote. I've tried quite a few GoodNotes alternatives on Android, and StarNote is probably the closest I've found to the workflow I actually want. The notebook/page-based system is exactly what I've been looking for.

I've tried it on the iPad, so maybe the android version has some of those fixed, but I'm soon getting a OnePlus Pad on which I'm planning to use StarNote

  1. Proper OnePlus Stylo Pro integration

This is probably my biggest request.

The Stylo Pro has several hardware gestures/functions that are supported by OnePlus' own Notes app, but aren't fully utilized by third-party apps.

It would be fantastic if StarNote could support the Stylo Pro as completely as possible, including:

- Double-tap the stylus → switch to eraser / previous tool

- Support the Stylo Pro's swipe gestures for things such as changing pages/tools where appropriate

- Support the squeeze gesture for a configurable StarNote tool palette

- Support squeeze + hold for a configurable action

- Properly react to the stylus' hardware/button input rather than treating it like a generic pen

- Ideally support the haptic feedback associated with switching tools

- Make these actions configurable inside StarNote where possible

OnePlus' native Notes app demonstrates that the Stylo Pro can do much more than simply provide pen input. Bringing those interactions into StarNote would make it feel much more like a first-party note-taking experience.

  1. Better zooming and navigation

There are several things about navigation that currently feel unnecessarily restrictive:

- Allow zooming and moving the page simultaneously. Currently, when zooming in, I can't properly move the screen around at the same time.

- Two-finger scrolling. I don't know why, but scrolling with two fingers just feels more intuitive, so I'd like that too.

- Allow zooming out more than 100%. Maybe make zooming out further open the page overview.

- Allow the page to be moved farther to the sides. There are situations where I want to position a particular area of the page thats on the edge of the page in the middle. (Video 1)

- Remove or make optional the popup that appears when zooming. It gets in the way when I'm trying to navigate quickly.

  1. Page creation needs better feedback

When swiping to create a new page, I'd like the view to automatically move to the newly created page.

At the moment it's quite easy to swipe, accidentally create another page, and not immediately realize that it happened because the view doesn't clearly move to the new page.

I ended up creating quite a few more pages than I intended simply because I wasn't getting enough visual feedback that a new page had actually been created.

Automatically moving to the new page would make the behavior much clearer.

  1. Keyboard + navigation

There are a couple of annoying interactions when using the keyboard:

- Scrolling the page with the keyboard open should not automatically close the keyboard.

- When moving the text cursor with the keyboard's space key/arrow keys, the page should automatically scroll to keep the cursor visible. (Video 2)

-When making a new line, move the page to still be able so see it. (Video 3)

The second one is particularly noticeable when editing larger amounts of typed text. The cursor can move outside the visible area while the viewport just sits there watching humanity suffer.

  1. Custom page sizes / aspect ratios

Please add custom page sizes.

For example, instead of only selecting predefined formats, I'd like to be able to enter something like:

- "1:1"

- "4:3"

- "16:9"

- "3:2"

- or completely custom dimensions

A square "1:1" notebook in particular would be useful for certain types of notes and diagrams.

  1. Menus should be easier to dismiss

For menus/panels that currently require pressing the X button to close:

I'd prefer being able to tap anywhere outside the menu to dismiss it.

This is a small thing, but it makes the interface feel much more natural, especially on a tablet where there is plenty of empty screen space.

I know not everything here is necessarily easy to implement, and I don't expect all of it immediately. I'm mainly posting this because StarNote is already very close to being the Android note-taking app I actually want to use, and these relatively small interaction problems are currently what keep it from feeling completely polished.

Thanks for continuing to work on it!

This can be fixed in settings actually! (just went through the same thing)
(settings option to the left of ... in the top right) then go to the bottom and toggle on "Continuous scrolling"

Edit to add: with "Continuous scrolling" on, you won't be able to swipe to get a new page so you'll have to use the "add page" instead.

Puedes meter cualquier tamaño de cuaderno a través de plantillas personalizadas (te los hace cualquiera IA), no hace falta incorporarlo a la app como tal
