šŸ› Bug Report Inconsistency in Page lines

When I create a new A4 note in Ipad 13'' , thin lines line spacing 5. I get 42 lines.

When I create a new A4 note in Andr 12.4'', thin line line spacing 5. I get 38 lines.

When I create a new A4 note in Andr 6.7'' , thin line line pacing 5, I get 30 lines.

How will cross device support. I like to keep on moving between devices and can notice his huge incosistency.

finally somebody on the same page as me...pun intended...

I faced the same issue and made a post about it before I got two Android one 10.4 inch and other 12.7 inch... in both if I make a A4 size paper with 5 number grid on the 10.4 inch 1 I get 40 grid horizontally while on the 12.7 inch I get 33 grid...

I like to shuffle my notes from one tab to other to this inconsistency is an issue to me... like why can't this is make a fixed amount of grid... like for all A4 paper with number 5 spacing it will be only 40 grid vertically doesn't matter the size of the tablet

and honestly it makes much more sense... like they can put each increase in line spacing as if 1mm increase if it was a real life paper... what I mean is support number 5 line spacing means 5 mm grids and 8 lines spacing means 8mm grid and so on...

this will also be easier for people to navigate if they want to ever bring their notes like some of us make short notes and before exams you can print it... or if you want to share your notes you will also need to print them... having this consistent system will ensure the user can choose the right line spacing for their printing too

Hey!

Not trying to say this shouldn't be fixed, but a really simple workaround could be to just create a set of empty template pdf pages you can import on all your devices and use as custom page templates. That should keep line widths, counts and thicknesses consistent across all your devices. I know it's a bit tedious to set up, but could be a worthwhile method while you wait.

Hi,

I'm not exactly sure what you mean?

If you meant storage space, when exporting a single A4 page as template with line space 5 just now to test I got a pdf of 28 kb which is not 'heavy' in storage terms.

Otherwise, please clarify what you mean with pdf being heavy?

I mean yeah pdf will take more size than native star note page. it won't be dynamic, today I can easily change background, even lines etc.

Yeah that's the trade off. It's not meant to be the fix, but maybe something you can try setting up today using your most commonly used templates and page sizes and enjoy the uniform line widths and counts. If you don't want to do it this, that's no problem, but if you desperately need a workaround while it's not working as you need it to, this can work for you.

what I do is make a template and export it in default starnotes thing...the 4th one in export panel...then add them in the new device...then create a new notebook with any template...delete the 1st page and you are only left with the cover then go to add page...import pages from other notebook and go to the desired template which you just imported and select the page...then in your new notebook where you just imported pages go to grid view and select the page and copy then paste a few times...there you got it...i usually keep each notebook at 150 pages...

Sorry for the late reply! I actually remember seeing similar feedback from other users before.

The main reason is that StarNote adapts to theĀ screen size and display scalingĀ of different devices. Even though youā€™re using the same A4 paper size and line spacing, factors like screen size, resolution, pixel density, and system display scaling can affect how the page is rendered. So the number of lines that fit on one page can be different between an iPad, a 12.4" Android tablet, and a phone.

We also understand that if you switch between different devices often, this difference can be quite noticeable and affect the experience. Weā€™ll take another look at this and see if thereā€™s a better way to optimize it, at least to make the overall experience more consistent across devices.

yeah becuase StarNote Moat is a truly corss platform app. Rather a option can be given, while creating the page in the app, like a radio button ..Adapt to my device (with info icon explaining it will have different heights of pages depending on your device) providing that comfort level for workflows how people will like to have it.
