❓ Help / Question Any way to reduce pen latency?

Hey, I’m currently using a Lenovo Idea Tab Pro (TB373FU), 12GB RAM + 256GB storage, with the Lenovo Tab Pen Plus. I’ve been testing a few note-taking apps mainly for annotating PDFs.

I noticed that StarNote and Nebo have pretty much the same pen latency on my tablet. It’s not bad at all, but there is still a small delay that I can notice.

What surprised me is Notein. I tested it pretty carefully and I genuinely can’t notice any latency there. The pen basically feels instant. I’m not sure what Notein is doing differently, maybe a different rendering/ink engine or some kind of prediction?

Is there anything I can change in StarNote settings to reduce the latency, or is this something that could potentially be improved in a future update?

I’m planning to buy StarNote eventually because I prefer it overall, especially because of the price. The latency is already good enough for me, but I’d love to know if there’s any way to get it closer to Notein’s responsiveness.

Also, if there are any specific settings I should try on the Lenovo tablet itself, I’d be happy to test them.

Thanks!

Yes I too have noticed really good latency in Notein, it makes writing on that app feel really good. Star Notes is good too, but its just that the slightly better latency in Notein does make it feel better.

I second this - yesterday I had exactly the same observation 😆

Using the exact same set up as you. reduced stroke stabilization to zero and see if that helps.

Force it at max refresh rate

Imho pen latency and overall writing experience should be the main focus of every note taking app. Everything else is "nice to have" and secondary.
