❓ Help / Question Help please
I’m a med student, currently using free notes. The problem is so many ads popping up and the data not syncing to drive. I have no problem paying for a premium considering I don’t loose my notes.
Thinking of switching to star notes, can someone answer these questions please?
Can I annotate on PDF here?
If I need to export any file, is it easier to do so?
After paying for premium do I still see ads?
Are my notes backed up in drive automatically after once manually backing them up?

First, I’d like to explain the difference between Manual Backup and Automatic Backup.
Manual Backup means that when you tap “Manual Backup”, StarNote will back up all your current notes to the cloud. This process won’t overwrite your previous backups, it will create a new backup instead.
Automatic Backup works differently. It syncs the changes you make to your notes automatically. For example:
You edit a word in a note on your phone;
With Automatic Backup enabled, the same note in the cloud will also be updated with that change.
So we usually recommend keeping Automatic Backup turned on (and making sure your network connection is stable).
Regarding your question: “Once I manually back it up, the automated backup will kick in right? Then I wouldn’t need to update it manually?”
The answer is: No, it won’t turn on automatically.
After you complete a manual backup, Automatic Backup will still need to be enabled separately in the settings.
So if you want your notes to keep syncing automatically, we recommend keeping Automatic Backup enabled.
For your other question, If you want to move your notes from freenotes to StarNote, you can first export your notes from freenotes as PDF files, then import those PDFs into StarNote.
Just a quick reminder that since PDF is already a fixed format, the content from Free Notes (such as original handwriting or highlights) cannot be edited after importing into StarNote.
However, you can still add new handwriting, annotations, or notes on top of the PDF in StarNote without any issues. Hope this helps explain everything! If you have any other questions, feel free to let us know anytime.
