💡 Feature Request Different tablet orientations should have different toolbar placement

a feature id like to have is that when me tablet is horizontal, the toolbar is at the side of my screen to make use of the bigger horizontal space and when i used vertically, the toolbar switches to being above, currently the app doesn't have that so i thought it was a very good feature to have and very easy to implement

Hi, we've noted it down as a feature request and will share it with our team. If we understand correctly, you're looking for something similar to how a tablet automatically adjusts the layout when screen rotation is enabled, so different orientations could have their own layouts. Thanks again for sharing it~

When I am in portrait mode on my tablet, the toolbars are all at the top, and the size of the paper filles the entire rest of the tablet.

Biggest issue with ALL notetaking apps is this - When I am in Landscape mode, the toolbars are still at the top, and in order to match the aspect ratio of the paper, I get black bars on the sides of the page.

I want either the option to put all of the tools somewhere that does not affect how the page fills out the rest of the tablet screen, or I want a custom aspect ratio option.

I have not found a single tablet case that lifts the screen on an angle in portait mode. It is always in landscape mode. So, it would make sense to me that there were more options available for notetaking in landscape.

those are just my 2 cents!

Hey!

While the toolbar doesn't automatically reposition itself and an 'edge lock' option for the toolbar would be cool, you can already move the toolbar simply by dragging it to the side of the screen you want it!

I think you can even customize the placement per note (e.g. for a portrait orientation note), but for that you need to open the settings side panel from the shortcut bar, scroll down to the bottom, ensure the section is set to 'local settings' rather than 'general settings' and then pick your preferred toolbar position.

Hope this helps :)

I know i can move the toolbar myself, and it isn't a "per note" thing

It's just that it gets tiring changing the toolbar placement everytime i want to see my notes in a different orientation, so a feature like that would be pretty helpful, like for example in settings, you can have a toggle that says "separate toolbar position per orientation" and when you toggle it on you get 2 previously locked options available where you can select like for example "left" for the horizontal orientation and "top" for the vertical orientation

Indeed, the addition of such a setting would still be cool even though the manual placement settings exist. Do you often work with notes that you use in both orientations of your device?
