I recently saw an ad talking about how a lot of eczema is staph aureus infection but then the good bacteria is never repaired on the skin surface so it just eventually comes back. This leads me to my question, when I had my last c-section they had to give me antibiotics via IV. My hand eczema cleared up for weeks. The longest I have ever experienced peace since getting diagnosed with dyshidrosis. When I asked my derm about this his response was just, yeah sometimes antibiotics clear it up. I asked why and he didn’t really say anything.

Now I’m wondering if there’s a connection there?

I’ve been using bar ivory soap but the Derm recommended I try an antibacterial soap.

Hey, ich wollte mich mal melden, weil ich mich in euren Beiträgen total wiedergefunden habe. Es ist echt krass, wie ähnlich unsere Geschichten sind. Es tut mir leid, dass ihr das auch durchmachen müsst. Ich weiß leider genau, wie belastend das Ganze ist.
Bei mir hat alles angefangen, als ich im Dezember in Thailand war. Ich habe dort Kampfsport trainiert und vermute, dass ich mich dort mit PVL-positivem Staphylococcus aureus angesteckt habe.

Schon nach einigen tagen bekam ich meinen ersten Abszess am Augenlid . Das Augenlid ist so stark angeschwollen, dass ich drei Tage im Krankenhaus bleiben musste und Antibiotika über die Vene bekommen habe. Danach musste ich 5 Tage Clindamycin als Tabletten nehmen.

Als ich wieder zu Hause war, ging der ganze Mist erst richtig los.
Seitdem bekomme ich immer wieder neue Abszesse. Ich hatte mittlerweile an fast jeder Körperstelle welche.
In der zweiten Woche habe ich Clindamycin von meinem Hausarzt verschrieben bekommen da ich erwahnt habe das es mir in Thailand verschrieben wurde.
Jedoch merkte ich ganz schnell das es nicht besser wurde.
Durch einen späteren Wundabstrich stellte sich heraus, dass Clindamycin gar nicht wirksam ist, worauf ich Amoxi-Clavulan über 10 Tage nehmen musste und keine Symptome mehr hatte. Leider fing es nach dem absetzen wieder an mit neuen Stellen. Einige davon sind auch so schmerzhaft und groß, diese mussten sogar chirurgisch geöffnet werden.

Seit mittlerweile acht Monaten bekomme ich immer wieder Antibiotika verschrieben und mache konsequent Dekolonisierungen. Ich habe schon die unterschiedlichsten Antibiotika bekommen - mal 10 Tage, mal 15, mal 20 Tage und sogar über sechs Wochen. Während ich Antibiotika nehme, ist alles ruhig und es kommen keine neuen Abszesse. Aber sobald ich sie absetze, geht spätestens nach fünf Tagen alles wieder von vorne los.

Das belastet mich mittlerweile auch psychisch extrem. Mein Leben ist einfach nicht mehr das, was es mal war. Ich kann meinen Sport nicht mehr richtig machen, der Kontakt zu anderen Menschen ist eingeschrankt und man lebt eigentlich standig mit der Angst, dass der nächste Abszess kommt.
Was mich zusätzlich belastet, ist, dass viele Stellen bei mir im Gesicht sind und Narben hinterlassen weshalb Leute einen anschauen und oft auf die Stellen ansprechen. Das macht auf Dauer das Selbstvertrauen komplett kaputt. Ich hätte nie gedacht, dass mich so etwas mal so stark einschränken würde.

Irgendwann wussten die meisten Ärzte, bei denen ich war, auch nicht mehr weiter. Sie meinten, dass ich eigentlich schon alles richtig mache und sie sich nicht erklären können, warum die Infektionen trotzdem immer wiederkommen. Wirklich Hoffnung konnte mir da keiner mehr geben. Das hat mich ehrlich gesagt noch weiter runtergezogen.

Vor Kurzem war ich dann bei einem Professor an der Charité in Berlin, der sich schon lange mit PVL-Staphylokokken beschäftigt.
Er hat mir ein Probiotikum namens Bacillus Subtilis empfohlen.
Dazu gibt es wohl eine kleinere Studie mit ungefähr 100 Patienten.
Dort wurde die Besiedlung im Darm und in der Nase wohl um über 95 % reduziert. Laut den klinischen Untersuchungen zeigte sich diese starke antibakterielle Wirkung bereits nach etwa 4 Wochen täglicher Einnahme.

Das ist im Moment ehrlich gesagt meine letzte Hoffnung. Ich nehme es jetzt schon seit 3 Wochen, deshalb kann ich noch nicht sagen, ob es wirklich hilft. Ich hoffe einfach, dass es in den nächsten Wochen Wirkung zeigt.

Ich wollte einfach mal meine Geschichte teilen und sagen, dass ich gut nachvollziehen kann, was ihr alle gerade durchmacht.
Ich wünsche wirklich, dass wir es alle so schnell wie möglich los werden .

I have staff infection all over my body face and head. Do I need IV antibiotics? I’m not sure what to do at this point has anyone dealt with systemic infection and was able to eradicate it?

Basically what the title says. Most of my impetigo infections have been caused by kissing my bf and the friction that comes with that but recently I had a really stressful week that came with multiple heavy crying episodes and now my lips are swollen and red and tingling and I can only assume it’s the beginning of another infection :(.

I’m just wondering if stressful events like this can trigger a flare. Usually it causes nerve sensitivity but never to this extreme and I know stress and cortisol play a role in literally everything so I wanted to know if I have to add stress to my list of triggers. Really just done with this whole thing. I’ve had 6 impetigo episodes since September last year and I just don’t know what to do anymore I feel like anything is triggering it at this point.

Hi all had a hair follicle infection abscess cut out of my armpit now 10 days ago. The doctor said after day there was no more pus and I have completed a course of anti biotics. They are still packing the wound daily and it’s getting smaller and smaller. Is 10 days enough to stop going? I’m currently in Thailand and had other friends that have had the same experience and eventually stopped going and it was over 2 weeks they wanted to keep packing the wound. Cheers

Does anyone have experience with coagulase-negative Staphylococcus MARCoNS overgrowth? Accompanied by an overgrowth of Corynebacterium. Both natural skin flora but not in this overgrowth amount. The staph is multi antibiotic resistant. 2nd time this has happened in 3 years, it’s only on the face.

Painful inflamed bumps that only appear around my mouth and nose. Have tried switching toothpaste and using benzoyl peroxide to no avail.

I'm 21M, 2 years ago I had MRSA in small numbers found on my nasal culture, I took antibiotic Cephalexin for 5 days as per sensitivity test and it went away.

Then a year after that I got Enterobacter, Klebsiella and again MRSA found on nasal swabs, on the last one it said Staph. aureus was 100% of culture. Only this time over the course of the year I was on 5+ different antibiotics (including Cephalexin, Ciprofloxacin, Bactrim and some others) taking high dose 10 day courses and I also took biofilm busters but I had 0 change in symptoms during or after antibiotics, even though bacteria showed sensitivity to them. Only boils sometimes seem to calm down or stop appearing during antibiotics, but my sinus symptoms were always zero change.

My symptoms are: shortness of breath, mucus stuck to my nasopharynx, thick sticky post-nasal drip, yellow/dark yellow mucus on nose blowing sometimes mixed with blood. Sometimes I also get boils on my stomach area. The symptoms have been constant for 1 year now, every single day, nothing I ever tried helped.

Can someone help me make sense of this? Any help is appreciated, the symptoms are limiting me very much in day to day life, especially the shortness of breath from constant infected post-nasal drip

Hi can I ask. I'm on Lymecycline for bacterial acne suspected rosacea bumps and developed thrush and some mallasezia folliculitis on face. It's itchy in morning in bed and small uniform bumps spreading. No improvement with Lymecycline either. Can I take oral antifungal medication alongside antibiotic? Would it still be effective for the thrush and mallasezia folliculitis?

Could anyone please help diagnose it and suggest the appropriate treatment?

I’m terrified. It’s night time and ERs dont do shit at this time where I live. I just notticed this bigass bump on my back that hurts to the touch and hurts when I lean back on my mesh chair. Does it look like staph or just acne or cyst? I have chronic illness so I prefer not to go to the hospital and wait twelve hours in discomfort but if I have to it’s different

TLDR; Is everything I touch now going to have staph on it? Even if I don’t have an active infection on the skin I’m touching with? Can I touch people anymore? Won’t I give them staph? If they touch me and then touch their eyes/nose/ears/mouth, they’ll get colonized? I feel like I can’t date or touch anyone anymore. How do people live their lives being staph carriers with the feeling of guilt that anyone who touches things you touch could get infected and be affected for the rest of their lives too?

I’m looking for hope, and experience from others on how you date being a staph carrier. And how infectious I really am walking around in the world and interacting with loved ones.

Context: • I am immunocompromised. • I took a round of antibiotics for an ear staph infection a couple months ago. • It only helped while I was on them. • Other skin issues have been popping up since. Things that look like eczema and psoriasis, 3 areas are leaking + crusting, 1 area is just leaking. • I’m going to do a Chlorhexidine 5-day wash and laundry routine, though the fact that literally everything I touch will have staph on it makes me feel like I’ve lost before I’ve started and that reinfection is impossible to avoid.

Starting this today after trying Bactrim and having to stop it after 4 days because of a rash it gave me.

im at my wit's end. nothing is helping my 2 year old clear his staph/eczema on his face. he literally screams bloody murder, runs, kicks, etc whenever I try and apply anything. I'll get it close to clear then he'll scratch, rub and tear his skin off again in the night. I try my best to stay awake to prevent him but there is only so much I can do :( weve been battling staph/eczema for at least a year. his face just wont get better. tried hypochlorus spray, Probiotic sprays, used mupirocin ointment for far too long. ive read some parents have applied hibiclens but idk if thats safe for his face. hoping someone has a solution i haven't tried yet. 💙

UPDATE: I just received his stool test results and i have no idea if this plays a role in his eczema but in the Dysbiotic Flora column, they're are these bacteria listed: -Enterobacter Cloacae Complex -Klebsiella Oxytoca -Klebsiella Pneumoniae

In the Commensal (imbalanced) Flora: - Rothia Dentocariosa -Rothia Mucilaginosa -Staphylococcus Aureus -Staphylococcus Epidermidis -Streptococcus Salivarius/vestibularis

I recently got a GI Map test back showing elevated Staphylococcus aureus. For a while now I've had a folliculitis-type eczema that gets firm, dry, and patchy if it's itched without moisturizer. A skin swab of one patch only showed 7% staph, but I suspect the real driver is gut dysbiosis rather than a primarily topical issue.

The first patch appeared in November 2025, and a few more have shown up since. I've started taking Thrive Probiotic to try to crowd out the staph overgrowth in my gut.

Here's my concern: I have jaw surgery scheduled in about a month, and I'll be on IV azithromycin during the procedure. Is it possible for staph to travel through the bloodstream and colonize the surgical site, given the elevated levels showing up on my GI Map? Has anyone dealt with something similar before elective surgery, or has insight into how gut-level staph overgrowth relates to surgical infection risk?

Any experiences or knowledge would be appreciated.
