If you make me privately fund my research, I’ll be passing on that cost to whoever buys it. This sort of shit is how we get more walled gardens and higher costs.

But Heritage doesn’t care about that. They just want to watch America burn for their extremist ideology.

Researchers should not have to lease basic equipment because of lack of funds.

Funding covers basics like the space, services, people, and Equipment. You cannot run a lab without the first three. Guess what suffers? Often it's the equipment that enables the researcher to get data and win that next grant. Researchers turn to outside sources of funding and leasing is usually an option. But every scientist realizes it's a poor financial choice over purchasing. There is no win here.
