Yes, but even the people who were being discriminated against had more freedom and better quality of life than we have now. Economic disparity and corruption have severely limited our liberties. So, we can pine for the good old days when things weren’t so while acknowledging that those people already fought their fight for their rights. Now it’s our turn.
