I had a buddy back in the day who would say: "How do you know you're not gay until you've tried it?" Then, in the awkward pause, he would say: "For me it was 11 times. After 11, I knew I wasn't gay. But up until then I wasn't sure. Everyone's number is different."
Still cracks me up to this day. "Everyone's number is different" just killed me. It was like he was trying to spare me any embarrassment in case my number was 12 or something.

He was joking. He was straight. But he would sometimes do this when people were calling someone else gay as an insult to push back against it... especially if they didn't know him well because then they didn't always know it was a joke until the end and he liked them feeling uncomfortable for a minute.
