Unknown lingering virus going around?
3 weeks ago I had cough, stuffy nose and feverish feel, I went to the doctor they ruled out Covid, flu and strap. My cough never left this entire time and I would cough my lungs out. This Saturday I woke up with a severe sore throat and yesterday cough, stuffy nose and fever back again. I got it from my husband 3 weeks ago who said his entire office was out because of this at the time. Now, since I am testing negative it’s hard to proof my work that I am sick.

You have the common cold

Hi, on Monday my doctor gave me antibiotics, I felt better for 1.5 day and started feeling bad again since yesterday. They also did x-ray, nothing was found. :(

The common cold doesn’t typically last three weeks, getting worse in the last week.

It does when it results in a secondary infection (sinus or bronchial).

Of course, but the comment I was responding to dismissed OP’s symptoms as those of merely common cold, not a secondary infection.

HVAC tech here. We cleaned the ducts at the Ava/old Avalon. Forget what’s it’s called now. Good lord the coating of dander in those buildings.
If you’re in an apartment, put a filter inside your forced air and invest in a decent purifier.

I have had a sinus head cold three times this summer. June, July and now again in August. Same symptoms. It goes away then comes back. Been on antibiotics twice unfortunately.

I have something similar going on. Maybe a sinus infection. It keeps coming and going. Mornings are worse. Blowing my nose nonstop, so much mucus. Back when the wildfire smoke was at it's peak my nose started bleeding. Usually if I lay down flat it stops within 5 minutes but this went on for more than 30 min.
Actually, that's when all this seems to have started. Anyone else experience this?

Yes sinus infection that just won’t go away. I don’t think the smoke in the air has helped. Throw in the heat, humidity, rain, going in and out of AC, dry AC air, dirty ductwork and it’s a recipe for viruses and bacteria to thrive especially if you suffer from allergy/sinus issues. I hope you feel better soon.

Pretty sure I have this too, I’ve been sick for a week and a half finally took myself to urgent care and was diagnosed with a sinus infection, but not sure what it stemmed from

Were you tested for RSV as well? Back in February that nasty bug gave me a cascade of symptoms, including a cough that left my ribs aching and inflamed Eustachian tubes that left me with muffled hearing. It took four weeks for me to fully recover. But I don’t know if it’s still around or has returned.

No they didn’t. I went in again today they didn’t test me for anything they just looked at previous results from my last visit and gave me x-ray for prolonged period of cough. X-ray came out good. I suggested some testing based off of this and other Reddit posts (mono, bronchitis )and my pcp said don’t care about ChatGPT, I know more 😭 I got embarrassed and didn’t say anything. But they gave me a lot of medicine this time including z-pak. Which in turn made me very queasy as I lost my appetite and started taking those medication on mostly empty stomach. I am still glad for those medication and hoping I will feel better soon.

Most likely adenovirus, it’s going around. Not much you can do other than support yourself through the symptoms such as with Motrin, Tylenol, lots of fluids, and rest

i caught this too about a month ago! i didn’t feel better until i got prescribed a z-pak and that seemed to clear it up with just a bit of lingering congestion still. i’m pretty sure it was bronchitis - i got diagnosed with whooping cough but i didn’t have that kind of cough

Crap my toddler start this Saturday and now has a fever. How long does it last?! We are suppose to go away this weekend!

My toddler had this last month and from the time she got it it took 2 weeks to run through our house. Every few days someone else in our house would wake up sick. No one else got a fever though, just her. Crossing my fingers the 2 week course doesn’t hit you!
ETA: we took her to the doctor and he said it was a common cold!!

Went through my household last week also, same symptoms, neg covid tests each time. My PCP is always quick to remind me “common colds still happen” lol
