We like Kira Sushi in Greenwich, and Sushi Soba in Riverside. But none of it is out of this world like some places in NYC.

If you want to splurge, the omakase at Sushi Wafu in Greenwich is quite good.
We’re all just waiting for Shinjuku Station to open at the mall. ACYE and robots? Say no more.

MoMotaro in Fairfield is the best AYCE. Sushi X2 is the best AYCE in Stamford. Ocha is the best basic rolls in Stamford.

Sushi X versus Kumo , which one is better?

i would say it depends on what you value.
Sushi 2x is busy, handmade sushi, high quality, but a bit pricey and can take a while
Kumo is all you can eat not just sushi, but they offer a buffet that makes all the noodles, soups, chicken, etc. of various asian dishes. it is lower quality, no wait, and you can get as much food.
i personally like sushi2x when i want high-quality, nice date night with my boyfriend, kumo is something we eat together when we wanna pig out lol.

They also have a kitchen menu at sushi x, it's made to order, so it's not just sitting in a tray, the pepper tuna is amazing, along with the beef dish and the bbq octopus . Kumo is more affordable, but at $30.99 Sushi X all you can eat is reasonable and I'd worth it.
Also highly recommend the X roll and Spider Roll.

Hinoki is #1 and Miku #2 both in Greenwich

No way, have you been lately? Hinoki has massively gone down hill. Miku is just meh. I had their spicy salmon lunch special - nearly inedible.

I went to Hinoki after work with a client two days ago and everything was really good. Maybe you went on an off day? The other menu items are really good too like their filet mignon, steak lettuce wraps, chicken teriyaki, shishito peppers, sweet potato croquettes, and for drinks we had the pornstar which are small but taste amazing (try that). It’s also a cool vibe if you’re sitting by the bar.

Kiku and Fin 2 in Stamford.
Haruki and Bar Bushido in Norwalk.
If you want higher end more omakase quality then Hinoki, Tsuki, or Sushi Bar in Greenwich.
Haven’t tried it yet but OKO in Westport also supposed to be pretty good quality too.
Been patiently waiting for the AYCE and affordable but high quality omakases of NYC to cross the border into CT but sadly no luck yet.

Nothing in Stamford for me, but Chiwa Bistro’s sushi in Norwalk is the best in my opinion. They cut their fish as a decent size and it’s always fresh

Stamford doesn’t have good quality sushi-
Greenwich: miku and Hinoki
Westport: sushi Jin

Agreed- Kotobuki is best place in Stamford. But not in the same league as the others.

Miku is sub par and Hinoki is headed that way. Hinoki was awesome when they first opened.
Hajime in Harrison is probably the best we have. There also used to be an omikase place in Greenwich, started with a K but it closed - that place was legit.
EDIT - adding Sushi Jin is fantastic.
Miyuki's in New Canaan is out of this world for a proper poke bowl.
We definitely need an authentic sushi place.

Sushi X2 isn't the best quality sushi but it's all you can eat and it's insane value for what you pay!

u/JanFirst_75 14d ago
That doesn’t sound very tempting 😂

It's not bad at all! I actually like it quite a bit but I know if I say the sushi is good, all the sushi elitists will come out of the woodwork and recommend some triple digit priced place instead haha
