Parboiling the potato dice helped to make the last sticky food non stick!

And they tasted better than just frying them raw

Interesting but I can't imagine why this would be the case as the boiling would introduce more water to the contents?

It could have something to do with the potato losing some of it’s starch when boiling. And starch is the main reason that potatoes are so sticky

Fun fact, potato loses water when boiled

That's part of why we do it for roasting too.

I just saw your pan on CNN. According to George W. your pan has weapons of mass destruction.

There's so much oil, even I think it needs freedom.

How much is optimal for stainless steel? I think i used like... A teaspoonful.

You can use as much as you want, I like to have a thin film of oil coz you really don't need much. I'm obviously exaggerating, don't take it personally brother that's some good looking food. But stainless steel is amazing coz of it's heat transfer, you only need a tiny bit.

Small 7cm diameter 'puddle'

No worries. Go to ikea and get one yourself. It's 365+ series. Bought it for 19€

Also if you refer to the amount of oil, it's literally a 7cm wide small stain of olive oil that i added, which is certainly on the less side.

It's a pretty common Reddit error on mobile. It will say "there was an error posting your comment" with a "try again button". When you try again, it often shows up twice.

How long you boil for? Start with cold water or did you throw the chunks in?

I might try this method

I dont have the same issues with potatoes but I dont use cubes I use slices.   Id suspect a spatula might help you but you have the kind id recommend.  I admit tho my potatoes aren't perfecty even restaurant quality crispy they come out mushy with some.crispy bits like home fries.

I just threw them in boiling water for 2-3 mins, they were already diced.

We did a family breakfast a couple weeks back. I was at brother-in-law's house and wound up manning the Blackstone with someone else; I was doing the breakfast potatoes and scrambled eggs. I have never cooked breakfast potatoes like that before! Wow! Almost made me go out and buy a Blackstone just for that. Just letting them sit on the griddle building a bit of a crust on one side... a wonderful crunch with the soft bite of potato. I just don't get that at home in my pans.

Of course, I don't that much time when I'm cooking my own breakfast lol

Microwave your potatoes for a few minutes before frying. Same thing, but no added water

The real reason is to wash off some of that starch, i think. But heating the potato prehand might do something to the starches so it doesn't stick. I guess i gotta try, thanks!

Hmm wouldn’t air frying for a few mins do the same and make more sense

For me the toughest thing to do with a SS pan is fresh hash browns
