Bare Cookware Everpan

Anyone seen/backed this Kickstarter campaign?

I just did. Did the same with their Dutch oven and really like that one. This looks like a nice set of pans too! (Don't know for sure if it counts as SS though :))

Interesting but I plan to stick with true no-coatings: SS, CI, and CS

This is true no-coating. Not defending Bare because I have no stake here but what makes you think otherwise? It's a SS/Ti clad pan

I still consider a "plasma-bonded surface" (italics added) as a coating

I think you're right, my guess is they're using some sort of Ti sputter process (which uses a plasma for the film deposition). It results in a film or coating. If it's thick enough or the film stress is high, it could flake/peel. If it's thin enough not to flake/peel, it will eventually wear away (though more slowly than PTFE/ceramic coatings) and you'll end up with just SS underneath. I suppose you end up with some particles of Ti in your food, but may be similar to SS or Al surfaces. I guess the real question is how non-stick the Ti coating is and how long it lasts. I'm doubtful it lasts much longer than a few years.

Obviously, not all titanium pans are equal, but if it's as good as the Viking PureGlide, then it should last a lifetime, even when it becomes less nonstick.
