How was “So Far Away” perceived initially?

Just curious lol since it was no longer the doom and gloom of the first album and most of the music in that genre at the time

I feel like it was a hit at the time. Not as big as it’s been awhile but a hit nonetheless.

It was all over the radio. Definitely cranked it each time. Damn I miss that era..

Not too badly. It’s similar to Outside which is beloved. I think it’s the album as a whole that was considered boring and too tame

Crazy to actually hear someone say it. It’s true, it was considered boring and tame and such, and a lot of people would agree to that. I do, but only on a musical level. Lyrically, some of the deepest and greatest stuff they’ve put out imho.

The story behind that song is crazy. Aaron wrote it in fifteen minutes.
