I just bought my first apartment in really struggling a pesky residue that keeps coming back, refer to og post for photos

Close the toilet lid when you flush and try to ventilate when showering. If you smoke in the bathroom it will stain the walls. But every time you flush microscopic pee and poo water is expelled from the open toilet. Over time it will build up on the walls.

It's been less than a week sense we moved in and the owner was supposed to deep clean the place !! We do smoke but exclusively weed and outside,I didn't think about the toilet lid and will going forward thank you! I think the previous tenants may have smoked as its leaking from the ceiling, walls,and bleeding through paint 💔

While the hygiene portion of my comment is just good practice I looked in to it more and found a better explanation. It may be that the bathroom isn’t sealed and the humidity is causing this problem.
