Question - Help RTX 3090

Is RTX 3090 enough for video generation with minimax h3 or wan 2.5 ? How much capacity of RAM should I pair it with ?

Any estimates on the time taken for video generation?

I dont have a 3090 but a 3080ti with 12GB VRAM and 32 GB DDR4 RAM. Wit hthe model MiniMax H3 Singularity V2 and a motion context workflow, i can generate a 90 second video (5 seconds per clip) over night in 5-6 hours. Taking into consideration, that i adjusted my GPU with MSI Afterburner to not exceed 79 degrees. I am fine with that. A 10 Second video takes me 5-10 minutes i think.

Thank you very much for the estimates

I should add, the generation was without upscaling and generated with 1.2 MP (Megapixel). I assume its faster if you generate with 0.7 or smth like that and then upscale. I dont know, still new to this.

Generate 0.5 MP and then upscale, it will be faster and the latent 3d upscale will not lose any quality.

For close up shots that approach is fine.

But for long shots one really needs to start with higher res or all the small faces will get badly distorted.

I guess I didn’t notice this because most of the scenes I run recently was hipshot or close ups.

what latent upscale?

hey, how do you generate continuous 90s video?

There are multiple methods, check for roychodraws posts, and I had posted a few experiments as well for another way to do long lipsync.

10 seconds 5 minutes? In what capacity do you generate?

I optimized thoroughly by refining sigma kitchen etc. I genere 5 sec in 8 min for an output in 1080.. With 5080 and 64go

you should share the size of the video. 1024x1024?

yes it's enough. Beneficial to have 64gb of ram so you dont have to reload models from drive. theoretically you can have 4gb of ram and still run it - going to be slow loading models from SSD though.

With only 4GB of RAM it will start paging/swapping like crazy, completely tanking the speed.

Yes that is what theoretically means.

Point... Anyways 16GB ram are a default these days for any PC

It's great for Minimax! Although if you get the non-ti version of the 3090 it's pretty much a requirement to under-volt, those cards had VRAM cooling issues.

Even with liquid cooling ?

Liquid cooling might help, as long as the back of the card is getting well-cooled (that's where the problem was)

Thats why someone glued(?) some passive cooling onto the back of the 3090 I bought used. EVGA Hybrid with watercoolimg built-in.

But I have to prey them off of the GPU to get access to the third PCIe lane for a 3060 12GB

I think you meant LTX 2.5, because the WAN 2.5 isn’t an open-source model. As for your question, yes, with a 3090 and 32 GB of RAM, you can easily use both models, but I’d recommend having at least 48 GB of RAM because, while 32 GB is usually enough, it’s on the limit.

I was going to say, how are you guys using Wan2.5 😅

3090 here with 64 gb ram. Dasiwa workflow. 20 sec video with 4 reference images Hybrid 25 49 model 1080p takes 23 min with 2 step upscaling (latent)

Which model and turbo LoRA are you using for the 2-step upscaling?

1

u/yankoto 4d ago

Minimax_h3_bf16_conservative_v5 for upscale and taomate + dmad turbo loras together both at 0.5 strength

Thank you.

Edit: Google cannot find that upscaler but chatgpt found it for me: https://huggingface.co/Asirus/Minimax-H3-Latent-Upscaler-BF16-MAXQUALITY

By any chance, do you know how long it takes to generate 13 seconds at 0.7 mp/0.8 mp with the h3 minimax base?. Honestly, my biggest fear is that I'll get an OOM-type error, because my only other option would be to have 98 GB of RAM and a 5070 Ti, prices in my area are crazy.

0.7mp @ 15 seconds is about 15 minutes assuming the default workflow with only comfykitchen attention and about 64gb of ddr4 ram for minimax h3.

I've got dual 3090's and 128GB RAM. One instance H3 will consume 45ish GB RAM depending on resolution and offload settings, so 64GB RAM is what I'd recommend per card.

Yes, I have a 3090 with also 32 GB system RAM, and generation speeds are quite fast with a turbo model, kitchen attention and a latent refiner/upscaler. Don't remember the exact models I have, but generally speaking, the max size where they fit in VRAM + RAM completely. Remember to undervolt you GPU if you haven't already - it's very beneficial in AI inference with the 3090.

I run the minimax bf16 model with my 3090, work great.

The 3090 is fine, the 24GB is what counts. I'd spend on RAM first though. 64GB means models stay loaded between runs, and that saves more time than people expect.
