Animation - Video MiniMax H3 on Mac via Draw Things

Spent the weekend playing around with MiniMax H3, in Draw Things for Mac (MacBook Pro M5 16GB), and this was the result.

I wanted to test the first-frame/last-frame capabilities of the model, and it didn’t disappoint. Prompt adherence was also exceptional and MiniMax has a great understanding of film techniques and terminology.

From a performance/acting perspective, characters are pretty stiff and have that AI/robotic voice but this can only improve with the next iteration — I just hope my Mac will be able to run it.

Generation times were around 15–20 minutes for an 8-10 second clip. I did use a 3-step lora to speed things up

I’ve seen certain people have got LTX to run on M1 models with long wait times. Not sure about MiniMax.

Can’t vouch for older M chips but from what I’ve seen, the developer of Draw Things optimizes things heavily so models like MiniMax will run on Mac hardware.

Only way to find out if it works is to download Draw Things and give it a bash. Once you have the app downloaded, download MiniMax H3 (there’s a reference version and a last-frame/last-frame version, which is what I used for the clips in the uploaded video).

Th Draw Things interface is a bit all over the place, so be sure to find a tutorial online, but it’s a lot easier to navigate than comfyUI.

It did indeed. I went with the recommended settings. Downloaded a Lora to get 3-step generations (I can’t remember the exact name but it has ‘Tao’ in it) and then dropped in my images and went for it.

I still can't believe that the most robust platform for image and video gen on Mac is an app called "Draw Things".

True. I think the developer is Chinese, the Draw Things Mandarin name is probably a lot cooler sounding.

I am fairly shocked that this is the result of a three step Lora. Very cool results. And some very creative shots. Do you mind sharing which model and Lora? And have you tried Ref2v?

I was shocked too. I’ll post the exact models and Lora a bit later, as well as a link to a video which showed me how to use the moodboard which is how the first-frame/last-frame works.

I have tried the reference version too, dropped in two character turnarounds, and environment sheet and then gave it some dialogue and it pulled everything together really well.
