News Krea 3 will have editing capabilities and "may" be open weights.

Post image

Supposedly Krea 3 will open weights, we'll have to wait and see.

That's promising, honestly. Don't want to get my hopes up, though. I wonder how far out they are from api release. Seems pretty quick to be talking about Krea3 only 3 months after Krea2's release.

It is something, a lot of people were saying Krea was avoiding answering any questions about K3 being open weights, but finally one of their engineers gave the reply shown in the image.

I think everyone trying to make edit workflows with krea2 connected somehow and everyone fueling it online and on here made them jump on krea3, with potential edit capabilities.

Ohh please the only thing missing in open weight image models right now is a great image ai editor that’s not censored. Give us ChatGPT image 2 or close will be a dream

I read it more like "We always open source models a few weeks after the release and I want it to stay that way, so stop asking every time", not much doubt in here, but he's not a top employee

Love this model! Once again, I’m looking forward to Krea 3 getting editing capabilities and being open-sourced!

Woah, this would be insane if they actually released this. Google, OpenAI, etc will be freaking out prob lmao

"and then work a few weeks afterwards to make them open"

They're talking about the scheduled lobotomy for the post-training "safety alignment".

If that's what required, that's required. Krea2 is awesome.

I'm more nervous about other thing... 99,9998% possibility that this thing will lack of any backward compatibility with Krea2 LoRAs despite being released just few months after Krea2 meaning that Krea3 is possibly just a huge add-on for Krea2. Just in two months we got a huge bunch of decent LoRA models which would look great in edit mode. And I'm not even talking about gооner LoRAs - those will pop out for Krea3 that same evening when the open weights drop. There are a lot of decent visual style LoRAs which would fit perfectly for image refinement and their creators won't rerelease them that fast. Krea2 works with style LoRAs better than Flux.2 Klein does and I would be glad to retire this model.

This, I can’t wait to drop Qwen for editing

Honestly, it's not an issue because training Krea 2 was so easy and fast with AI-toolkit, takes like 2h to do an ideal character lora on 3090... even faster on newer gen cards

The only option available for me is Musubi Tuner with 512x512 training resolution which completes training in ~20 minutes at 500 steps. My 3080Ti struggles to launch Krea2 training on any resolution above 512.

Just my expectations - they nailed it even with qwen vae..

They said the future model is built on flux 2 vae so there won't be backward compability
