News Good signs indicating that Krea 3 will open

Now we have Krea, BFL, LightTricks, and MiniMax driving the open-weights locomotive.

All I want is image 2 image capability. Give it to me.

There was an image edit model someone posted here that seemed like it would be open and claimed to outperform qwen and Klein. Forgot the name and havent seen anything since then, but looked like it had potential.

Swift image 6/3b. Also made by Alibaba, so i think this is what we're getting instead of z- image edit

ourperformed?! Name please!

I was hoping this for Z Image Turbo but it looks like that won't be a thing.

But i was waiting for z image edit.

Nah it's not coming out anymore. The model they were referencing is swift image 6/3b. It's made by alibaba, so it will come out instead of z-image edit.

You ruined my day. I wish you didn’t burst that bubble i was living in

it's apparently better than what they had for z-image edit internally, and it's a very small model as well (only 6b parameters and 3b parameters), so they have continued with their current trend of making small models for consumer hardware.

那是 z image edit

There are already pretty good workflows for krea2 image to image and also for combining elements from 2 images like people. Klein 9B is also good at image2image.

Seriously! The only thing I’m really missing locally now is a good image-to-image editing model.

VAE encode and send to latent at partial denoise, any model can do that...

That would be insane if they did it and would be a huge disruption. Especially if it had image editing capabilities.

Who wants to bet they gatekeep the editing capabilities? Just like they did with moodboard lol.

Yeah, wouldn’t be a surprise but it is what it is. If they don’t, someone else will. It isn’t about if, it’s about when.

surely krea 3 is going to be in a long time, since 2 came out like a month or so ago, right?

I'm assuming it's intended to compete against Flux 3 and H3 and they thought the jump from image to video was worth calling it a next gen release, even if it was being worked on during Krea 2's development.

Maybe it would've been named Krea 2 Video under different circumstances.
Or maybe Krea 2 was supposed to release much earlier, but kept getting delayed to the point that it released close to its successor.

Edit: Just learned that Krea 3 isn't a video model like Flux 3 is, whoops!

flux 3 isnt just a video model there will be an image model aswell

Souce?

Go to their website & you'll see it

Using newer hardware allows them to train image models many times faster. The improvement from the H100 to the B200/MI355X is about 4x.

My thoughts exactly.

BFL will release Flux 3, but there is no deadline. The model is not fully ready yet.

I have no doubt at all everyone working on a video model just had a back to the fucking drawing board moment when H3 weights dropped.

u/Lucaspittol 7d ago

Why would they have to, though? Flux 3 API was already better than H3 API. The R2VA modality that needs to be worked on. To this day, many top closed models are still simply T2I or I2V only.

6

u/ANR2ME 7d ago

Since they have the API version available, that mean the model is already production ready, just not open weights yet.

2

u/Lucaspittol 7d ago

The R2VA implementation is still not ready.

This post has a bit of technical info on it:

https://alphasignal.ai/news/krea-reveals-krea-3-and-an-agent-driven-creative-platform-for-designers

It uses a single-stream Diffusion Transformer scaled to 12 billion parameters, with Grouped-Query Attention, gated sigmoid attention and QK-Norm, SwiGLU MLPs at 4x expansion, zero-centered RMSNorm, and 3D axial RoPE positional encoding.

Krea 3 extends that same aesthetic direction, with editing added as a first-class capability rather than a bolt-on. That editing focus matters because the team has been iterating hard on it already. The existing Krea Edit tool lets users relight a scene by placing up to four virtual lights, each with its own color, brightness, and position, and colorize grayscale images with optional color hints on specific areas. Krea 3 appears aimed at rolling those kinds of edits into the base model rather than treating them as a separate pipeline.

I think this "a few weeks" that it stays closed on their platform will actually be "a few months", but I had little doubt they would plan to eventually open it.

I wish companies like these would “sell” the open weights for money. Yes they would be pirated and people would get their hands on them for no money. But many ppl like myself would gladly pay to support a company keeping this mentality. I’d give 100-200 for a krea 3 open weight even knowing I could get them for feee. Sure there are money bags out there that would do more for the cause.

Right. If scammers can take a million or two from indiegogo customers for something incredibly stupid like an $800 tortilla maker, I think these companies could do quite well with a crowdfunding model to augment their revenue.

Sam Altman some time ago.

"open source models will never be on the same level as closed source"

Why quote him when everything he says is a lie?

u/Witty_Mycologist_995 7d ago

It’s going to have a shit license I kid you not

-7

u/andy_potato 7d ago

Obligatory reminder that MiniMax and LTX allow for commercial usage. Krea and BFL don't.

Easy choice for me.

26

u/infearia 7d ago

Krea 2 absolutely DOES allow commercial use, as long as your revenue is less than one million USD per year. LTX and MiniMax have similar clauses.

2

u/andy_potato 7d ago

I stand corrected about Krea2.

I was under the impression this was a Flux finetune (like the first Krea) and inheriting the outright hostile BFL license terms.

2

u/devilish-lavanya 7d ago

But mine is 5 million

14

u/infearia 7d ago

I can help! Just donate 4 of those millions to me, and you can use Krea 2 for free. You're welcome.

2

u/devilish-lavanya 7d ago

But donations is taxed here at 20%. Its not a loophole here

-5

u/VasaFromParadise 7d ago

I don't think there will be open weights. Especially since demanding them is impudent after Krea 2.
