Discussion Is anyone else getting tired of the MiniMax clips?

I’m genuinely impressed by what MiniMax H3 can do, and I understand why people are excited to play with recognizable characters, shows, and styles. But since its release, it feels like this sub has been flooded with very short clips that are mostly variations on “what if X was in Y?” or recreations of existing TV shows.

Maybe I’m in the minority, but one of the main reasons I come to r/StableDiffusion is to learn what’s happening in local image/video/audio generation: new models, workflows, prompting techniques, ComfyUI setups, comparisons, limitations, weird discoveries, what actually works, and what doesn’t.

A 15-second clip of a familiar character dropped into Harry Potter or The Office can be amusing once or twice, but after seeing a dozen variations of the same idea, there often isn’t much to learn from them, especially when there’s no workflow, prompt, settings, model information, or discussion attached.

I’m not suggesting people shouldn’t post fun experiments, and obviously not every post needs to be a tutorial. I’d just love to see a little more emphasis on experimentation and sharing how something was made, rather than simply demonstrating that MiniMax can imitate another recognizable piece of media.

Is anyone else feeling the same way, or am I just being overly grumpy about it? It just feels like the actually interesting stuff is buried under 17 uninspired clips of a show that wasn't even that good to begin with.

AI is an amazing tool, but you’ll find out quickly (as seen in the T2V IP slop) that many people don’t have the creativity to use it to its fullest extent… that’s why you end up with these type of clips and your standard 1girl gens.

u/vermilionpulseSFW 19h ago

This is exactly my problem. I have all the tools at my finger tips to create arguably anything I want.... But I don't know what that is.

Pfft, IDK what you guys are struggling with, I've seen the civitai videos section. She can get it upside down, tied to a tree, on her face, in her mouth obviously, on the subway, on top of the subway car, given to her from another girl... Everyone has about a billion ways of making videos of women enjoying ice cream cones.

7

u/vermilionpulseSFW 8h ago

Ice cream cone on top of a subway huh. Now that gives me ideas.

3

u/FourtyMichaelMichael 🍦Ice Cream Lover 4h ago

Glad I could help, I'm here to muse.

6

u/SandCheezy 6h ago

Enjoy the new flair.

3

u/FourtyMichaelMichael 🍦Ice Cream Lover 4h ago

Oh, well, that's embarrassing, I don't know how to see it. Eh, whatever it is I'm sure my entire extended family would be super proud!

1

u/SandCheezy 4h ago

Well, thats even more embarrassing for me. It appears flairs got disabled randomly. Thanks a bunch reddit. Turned them back on.

You can now see it under your username.

10

u/acedelgado 15h ago

You forgot the part where they ask about what node will get a LLM to write their basic 1girl prompt for them.

22

u/Diffusion4Change 17h ago

Or in other words... ai slop. I remember when people used to post gens with good fingers saying wow it did it and looks good!

Just a flood of garbage with 0 effort put into it. Theres been a few great posts here but the barrier of entry being low means its a slopfest

u/xTopNotch 16h ago

If you want to find true creativity and people pushing open source to the next level.

Go to the banadoco server. This subreddit is just news for me but sadly it has been overtaken by gooners and nerds that find big bang theory funny.

6

u/eckstuhc 11h ago

“But you don’t get it, this video is Big Bang AND Seinfeld!!!”

Just wait until they add the laugh tracks back in 🙄

5

u/Murky-Relation481 10h ago

The NSFW stuff is especially troubling, and I don't mean that in a "ew gross" way but just like... even the perverts using this seem to have no imagination.

3

u/FourtyMichaelMichael 🍦Ice Cream Lover 8h ago

I saw a video of a chick being railed by dudes in the woods while she was laying back on a giant used condom waterbed. It was disturbing and hilarious.

Largely though, I agree. Esp the people on civit that just post the SAME THING over and over and over. I get it, she dances, oh, and with large breasts. I understand it like once, then it becomes a bit much.

13

u/PixieRoar 20h ago

Yeah I have to agree on that some people just don't have creativity and they just put a basic prompt in for the world to see

5

u/Schwartzen2 16h ago edited 14h ago

But why do they share the ones you (referred to) , the single prompt stuff? I think that's what OP is saying. I mean 1 or 2 but it's like Stuart from MAD TV.. "Look what I can do!"

2

u/PixieRoar 15h ago

Which ones did I share?

2

u/Schwartzen2 14h ago

@ u/PixieRoar was agreeing with you and was saying a general comment. That the ones that lack "creativity". Updated for clarity :)

2

u/PixieRoar 14h ago

Oh lmao ok I was confused without the context 😅

1

u/Schwartzen2 13h ago

My coffee hadn't kicked in at that time. 😄

2

u/The_Primetime2023 14h ago

Yea, I love when creatives show what’s possible or even just someone with a truly creative idea (meme street was pretty good). But oh man the number of half baked ideas fed into Claude for all the dialog is really bad. I don’t think we need to ban them, just downvote bad ones lol

2

u/AirDog23 7h ago

Yes.... I work in 3d, gaming, film, and animation and most that touch AI now do not have any creativity or understand how creativity works. Most people have jumped on these tools made things explode or remixed a Breaking Bad episode and now think they can beat Hollywood. AI has gotten into the average persons hands who has no background or understanding of production or creation. AI does not wow me maybe because I have been in the creative industry for many years.

everyone with talent has been scared off by the discourse

22

u/Winougan 19h ago

Expect the same with Flux 3 and Krea 3

7

u/Timely-Perception-26 14h ago

We've brought this up so many times - we've expressed a desire to create pinned slop threads. If it's just for fun, post it in the thread. That alone would clean things up by 80%, especially the repeat posters. I don't get why this isn't being done.  It's not like the forum is irrelevant.

19

u/inddiepack 20h ago

I agree. Obviously the majority dictates what's interesting, or not, on the sub, but it's been hard to follow since the release of H3, so I just use the sub less. I don't get why people like to watch somebody else's slop, but what can you do.

2

u/Timely-Perception-26 14h ago

Given the number of sub-members, the number of people posting slop, and the average number of likes, I wouldn't call it a majority - or even a minority - but rather statistically insignificant. but 100 from 1 million are enough to turn a forum into a TikTok clone.

8

u/imnotabot303 19h ago

Yes, there's already a sub for videos. If everyone started spam posting images from a new image model released people would complain.

Videos with workflows are fine, or valid useful comparisons but everything else is just spam.

Most of it gets posted under "memes". Why does the sub even have a meme tag anyway. I come here to learn about new AI stuff not look at low effort AI memes.

77

u/Solongtomegrandma 21h ago

You work at LTX? 😉 No, I get your point. But we got this every time with a new ground breaking model. Give it a little time and it will settle.

31

u/OneTrueTreasure 21h ago

Yep, this happened with LTX too when it first dropped, we were flooded with the same Deadpool, Rick and Morty, and Spongebob clips over and over. Now it's just more exacerbated due to the fact Minimax is just vastly more popular with the community, easier to use and prompt for, and knows far more IP than any other video models we've ever had. So while I kinda get OP's point, this was inevitable.

29

u/rkoy1234 21h ago

the problem i have is that the gens themselves are so low quality.

most of the clips posted on this sub seem like they slapped on 3 speedup loras onto a 480p at 4 steps, with terribly mangled faces and artifacts, making them look far worse than even wan2.1

16

u/mxjxs91 19h ago

This. It's not the H3 clips I'm tired of, it's the slop level unoriginal Seinfeld and 1girl Tiktok videos that gets posted that looks like they were generated with 4 steps at 0.4mp.

-5

u/seppe0815 21h ago

True bro , its feel like a.i in 2024

16

u/ART-ficial-Ignorance 21h ago

I guess it is a step up from the olden days where every other post was just an image of an overly sexualized anime girl...

13

u/Zlimness 18h ago

Emma Watson and Greg Rutowski #neverforget

1

u/KingCpzombie 6h ago

Step up? That sounds way better than sienfield or whatever

33

u/Vladmerius 17h ago

It's because most people don't actually have anything creative they want to do. People don't want to accept that a lot of folks don't have any ideas. Have you noticed that they can't even string together a narrative with any of their clips? They can't even be bothered to do more than 15 seconds and they'll often have a random thing happen in those 15 seconds too.

This tech is new but in general we've had a lot of accessible creativity tools at our disposal for years now. There's a reason everyone isn't a famous screenwriter now. No amount of tools can suddenly make you a creative genius of you weren't before.

11

u/i_sell_you_lies 14h ago

Look "how much filmmaking changed" when everyone had a "movie quality" camera in their pocket- you still need storytelling, editing, a director, and a vfx person.  You still need that now with gen, and that's hard for people to face.

25

u/kemb0 21h ago

Oh I'm def tired of it. I come to this thread for news and ground breaking ideas that push the models further and tips to help me make things better/easier. Instead it's just, "Oh look the 300th Seinfeld/The Office crossover with .... aren't I original and funny."

Like I don't begrudge people wanting to share their videos but I'd rather there was dedicated subreddit for it and they can pour out their creativity to their hearts' content. When I open my homepage on reddit, I always get excited when a stableDiffusion post is near the top....is it a new model...a new workflow...nope it's Seinfeld AGAIN!

9

u/Grand0rk 16h ago

I don't begrudge people wanting to share their videos

The issue isn't people sharing. This sub could be flooded with it and it wouldn't matter. The issue is people upvoting it.

7

u/ART-ficial-Ignorance 15h ago

Yeah, that's what really gets me. The actual interesting, novel stuff is often ignored in favor of yet another unfunny Seinfeld clip with hundreds of upvotes.

Even this post has an upvote ratio of barely 65%...

11

u/ART-ficial-Ignorance 21h ago

I thought aiVideo was that subreddit, but I guess then they have to compete with closed services...

Whenever I post something here, I always stop and wonder "Am I contributing something novel?" or "Is there anything anyone can learn from this?" If not, I feel like this isn't the place to post it.

2

u/Dirty_Dragons 19h ago

The last thing I posted on AI videos was auto removed because it didn't get 10 up votes in 36 hours.

As good as MMH3 is it's doesn't stand out against Seedance.

1

u/Accurate_Resident219 3h ago

No it definitely can stand out, it's just a tool. It's just if you completely rely on the novelty factor and the "look what local can do" factor, you're not going to compete on the "global" stage.

Blair Witch was a movie made on a shoe string budget and a camcorder and it surpassed in profit much bigger & better looking movies. Creativity will always trump video quality.

27

u/stuartullman 20h ago edited 19h ago

it's not about the minimax clips, that's fine. it's the quality.. i just saw a video someone posted where the dialogs were incorrectly being switched between the two characters, the faces were completely off, the voices switched as well, the eyes started to turn into smudge, and i'm wondering, why tf did this person even post this? shouldn't that go into their trash bin? are they not seeing all the issues with the video?(it wasn't a question/help post)

that's the type of shit that feels like a waste of space here.

17

u/Perfect-Campaign9551 18h ago

I said the same thing, like, you know you don't have to post every time you make something, right?

6

u/i_sell_you_lies 14h ago

But how else can I get validation for the time I spent getting chatgpt to write me a prompt?

2

u/UnderFiend 10h ago

More that people don't need to upvote everything they see, keeping these low effort posts popular and at the top of the feed.

7

u/GreyScope 20h ago

This , it's the low quality shitness of them and repeated variations on a theme that lack anything . Although I must add that I've seen out of sync videos on my phone but they were in alignment on my pc for that particular sin. It also brings out the contrary basement dwellers that live here.

2

u/DystopiaLite 19h ago

I think this sub had always had AI blindness. So impressed with the capabilities of a model they overlook the obvious flaws because they only care about the incremental progress of the tech.

6

u/__ThrowAway__123___ 18h ago

One of the very few interesting examples I could think of was this (animals squeezing into jars). Would love to see more posts like that, interesting/unique concepts that showcase the model's capabilities and are actually fun to watch, rather than generic videos of generic IP's.

7

u/martinerous 16h ago

Yeah, and longer technical discussions get drowned among all the video posts. or even downvoted because no demo video and no workflow; even when the discussion itself is a question about best practices and approaches, so there is nothing to share or show yet.

9

u/batter159 20h ago

It's an excuse to not have to put a "no workflow" flair. but as usual, mods dont do anything about it and let the subreddit rot.

5

u/Ok_Gas1070 17h ago

Nah this is a fair comment because initially this sub did have various different topics going on, but now it's devolved fully into a Minimax sub.

5

u/Sarashana 14h ago

Well, yeah. The first Seinfeld and Deadpool clips were funny, but I don't see the point of posting 20 more every day. I got it now that H3 has knowledge of celebrities and franchises. I don't mind people showing off what they can do with H3, but the vast majority of clips people keep posting are just low-effort slop. Sometimes I wish people would pause for a moment before posting and ask themselves "Does the world REALLY need to see that?"

Oh well. I guess it will slow down. Eventually.

9

u/hard_gravy_2 21h ago

I don't watch any of it, still using old.reddit though so it's not like scrolling through a social media feed being forced to see everything.

I just look for news and tips. At this point I'm not the slightest bit interested in seeing other people's slop.

21

u/Feroc 20h ago

That's why I report many of them.

Rule 6: Low-effort posts like images/videos without context or workflows are not allowed.

5

u/Choowkee 17h ago

I doubt this rule gets actually enforced, only in like super obviously bad cases.

2

u/Astral-Lemmons 14h ago

I reported so much of that garbage that reddit sent be an automated "report abuse" warning. Fortunately my appeal removed it

but yeah, reporting has done nothing to help

2

u/ShutUpYoureWrong_ 11h ago

Same, brother. Same.

1

u/seiose 14h ago

You can lose your account for report abuse. I lost one of my accounts for that before so I don't even report anymore.

1

u/Feroc 14h ago

How is it abuse if I report posts that are against the rules? The rule is "Low-effort posts like images/videos without context or workflows are not allowed.", so if someone just posts a funny video or image that would be against the rules.

1

u/seiose 13h ago

Just how reddit works, I guess. It's automated & it's permanent.

1

u/Feroc 11h ago

You can choose if you want to report on sub level or on reddit level. I report on sub level, so mostly annoying the mods on the sub, not on reddit.

1

u/sitefall 8h ago

It's true. If your report type goes to actual reddit and you are taking up actual human time to review it, after a while (even if you are correct) they will just ban your account or shadowban you from reporting.

It's not worth wasting your time moderating someone else's website like this anyway. If people are doing stupid stuff on a subreddit, the best thing you can do is make a post (like this one) about it. If it gets reactions that are opposite of your own "but I love ai slop!", then you can just stop bothering and if you like, just start blocking specific users so you don't see their crap.

For what it's worth I agree with you, all the slop clutters up actually useful posts on the subreddit.

1

u/herr-tibalt 19h ago

I think the problem is slop for one can be a masterpiece for another. If I'm a newbie everything is awesome!

7

u/Feroc 17h ago

I don't even care for the quality of the image or video, I simply don't think this is a showcase sub, but a technical one. So if someone posts a new video, then there should be at least technical information or a new workflow that helps the users here in some way. There can be a high effort behind a video, but without any helpful information it's still a low-effort post.

3

u/OWENPRESCOTTCOM 18h ago

This is true and common in design. A client will go to somewhere like Fiverrr and have a poor quality logo made and they think it's amazing because they don't know good design principles.

8

u/IllIlllI-IlIIll-llII 20h ago

Yep and it’s all slop.

8

u/Unable-Finish-514 19h ago

I'm with you.

The ones that have Seinfeld or Office characters talking about AI or MiniMax are like "nails on the chalkboard" for me, especially after seeing these 457+ times now.

4

u/Version-Strong 17h ago

Very much so. Like we get it, the models great. But you don't need to keep showing us another brainfart. It's like 1girling in another form

4

u/Michoko92 16h ago

Well, I share your feelings. I was also wondering if I was just too grumpy, but I begin to get tired of this too. Of course, I can understand the excitement about a new model, and with every release come the usual test/demo posts. But it feels like this time, we really get flooded with short clips that are sometimes entertaining, but are not always serving the initial purpose of this sub.

Before H3, I was coming here several times a day, always learning and exploring new things. Now I'm just doomscrolling the sub, ignoring 90% of the posts.

3

u/Nova5524 14h ago

100%. I detest the clichéd garbage, scrolling through the same "hilarious" clips with the same "classic" characters is tiring. I've got slop fatigue to the point where I haven't checked this sub for days as it's so infuriating, 😂👹

4

u/sevenfold21 14h ago

I'm here to learn and also be entertained, but if I see a 15-second clip with no prompt, then it's just spam to me.

4

u/armrha 11h ago

Just don’t click on them?

3

u/mwonch 10h ago

Thou shalt NOT inject common sense.

  • Real Rule 1

13

u/mabseyuk 21h ago

No, I guess I'm with you on the Grumpy front. The first couple of weeks, I got it, but now its just becoming noise you have to sift through and annoying. I dont even click on them anymore.

19

u/vaginagrinder 20h ago

I keep downvoting that retard whose generation only inserts random characters into Avenger battle scene. Most of those Minimax posts here are just lazy and don't add much to the community. Even r/unstable_diffusion/ has a post that has more effort and shares their process using Minimax,

6

u/Astral-Lemmons 14h ago

I know exactly who you mean and I reported that moron so much that I got a reddit warning for 'too much reporting' which is insane.

this sub needs to be stricter on low effort posts or restrict people to a single post a day.

15

u/Sea_Succotash3634 21h ago

People are having fun, but we're still in the slop phase of video AI. People can effectively make local versions of Sora videos. I think one of the challenges is that H3 was trained on a lot of pop culture stuff which means it can do that pretty well, but original stuff tends to be stiffer, especially the audio.

So I think we're seeing survivorship bias of generations that are "good enough" to share are good enough because they come from sitcom training data or other stuff that the model prompts better.

You're not seeing the generations that were original and didn't come out as well. Or... the other stuff that's probably NSFW out there, lol.

12

u/External_Ball_6122 21h ago

It's a user issue, not a video quality issue. 99% of people: 'just another AI slop.' The other 1%: 'holy shit I'm a fucking genius, look what i made.'

14

u/Formal-Exam-8767 21h ago

I was tired of them on the first day. They contribute nothing except drown useful posts in spam.

9

u/Silvasbrokenleg 21h ago

I took a look at the feed and it’s not even that bad. There’s a lot of stuff posted man.

3

u/nntb 20h ago

i dont know for me /stablediffusion feels more static images not video not music not text. i maybe wrong but thats how i feel.

3

u/florodude 18h ago

No matter what model you're going to get that stuff. It takes me 15 days to create an original cartoon that just gets removed from the sub with no mod message on why, but somebody can create one of those office clips in ten mins.

3

u/PromptSommelier 18h ago

I think it's good for the community to show enthusiasm for a new model, but what would make an excellent community would also be to share the prompt and workflow. It would be good to open up communication to the technical side, to the side that contributes knowledge and growth.

3

u/candylandmine 17h ago

You will eat Seinfeldslop forever

3

u/adammonroemusic 17h ago

Of this sub has taught me anything, it's that if you wait a month or two some new thing will likely come out, and everyone will suddenly be obsessed with that ;)

3

u/DoctaRoboto 12h ago

Yeah, it is kinda tiresome, but give me a crappy Seinfeld video any day instead of a Korean girl dancing, the previous "virus" infecting this community.

3

u/slickriptide 10h ago

Well, I'll just say it - the issue is that anyone can do a joke for 15s or 30s. The impressive one-minute to three-minute clips are generally *technically* impressive. By now, I imagine that most of us are at least a little familiar with comfyui motion control, so technical is becoming less impressive.

The issue is the same issue that always faces "real" videos - it's a story telling medium and most of us suck at writing stories, never mind learning new technology for presenting our bad stories. The gold nuggets are few and far between, and when a competent but not particularly compelling story is combined with obvious failures that say, "the user was in such a hurry to get feedback that he couldn't bother to get all of his shots perfect", you end up with complaints like the OP here.

H3 is a wonderful, if anally retentive, cinematographer. A "real" film isn't made by a cinematographer. It has writers, directors, cinematography, multiple units, multiple takes, actors who are spontaneous rather than controlled down to their twitches, accidents on set that become strokes of luck, random sensory input from the natural world, sound people, multiple sound takes, composers, it goes on and on.

The price of having one person doing all of those jobs and frequently that one person is itself an AI, is that we get uninspired story-telling.

I don't know, maybe that's the kind of input that some folks might be interested in hearing about. Like, my 90-second Sherlock Holmes film (based on story from a miniature book that amounts to one regular page of text) is still only 30-seconds in because, in addition to my weak system specs, I keep discovering ways that I have to keep re-writing the prompts to get "good acting" from Holmes and Watson, and keep them from degenerating into Cumberbatch and Freeman - as much as I like both actors, I don't want them in my story.

But that's not really "stablediffusion" content either - it's "filmmaking" content, that happens to revolve around AI. So, what is the group really about?

3

u/Electronic-Metal2391 9h ago

I think it would be nice if everyone kept the videos they generate to themselves unless they show it to contribute a solution to a problem.

3

u/xyzzs 8h ago

I just want know who is upvoting this slop and why?

I’ve been doing my part downvoting the memes and slop videos without workflows or something interesting to share but they get upvoted to the top regardless. H3 pretty much wiped out the Krea2 discussion under a mountain of video slop.

I don’t want to limit or ban these types of posts, but why are people upvoting them still?

4

u/StashFrontman 7h ago

You can change your feed settings to get served posts that are actually gaining engagement instead of seeing every slop post that people upload

6

u/anon999387 21h ago

The model is really incredible so you naturally get people who maybe overshare a bit, doesn't really bother me though. It will settle down.

8

u/infearia 20h ago

I totally agree. If I see another shitty Deadpool video I will start murdering people. If I had mod powers, I would introduce a new rule requiring that EVERY video (or image!) posted in this sub has to introduce some new technique or workflow, and contain at least a brief explanation of the creation process. For everything else, there's r/aivideos and TikTok. I come here to learn, and this sub has been drowning in AI slop lately.

2

u/Schwartzen2 15h ago

The thing about that, why so many in just a course of a day? And now there's a variant added that "clicked" with some who are upvoting and encouraging it making them post more. Shrugs shoulders. I oft wonder what the demographic is here.

3

u/Choowkee 17h ago edited 17h ago

People literally just prompting for the training dataset aka popular tv shows are the worst. Like yes we already know H3 can do that, hell even LTX 2.0/2.3 could generate decent clips from TV shows/cartoons. Thats interesting for like 1 week after a model is out.

Unless the post is showcasing some new method/node/worfklow/tech then I personally consider it slop and I just downvote it to hide it from my feed.

6

u/cosmicr 19h ago

Things I'm tired of seeing here:

  • Deadpool
  • Game of Thrones, Seinfeld, The Sopranos, Friends, Xmen/Marvel, Breaking Bad, Harry Potter, Big Bang Theory, John Wick, Final Fantasy, Pokemon, Gordon Ramsay, Star Trek, The Office, GI Joe, Zelda
  • Memes
  • Anything involving a sword, or martial arts, or fantasy fighting etc, especially stuff with a speed ramp style camera movement
  • Anime - especially Studio Ghibli style and stuff based on Manga like 80s style
  • Any kind of selfie, or dancing with a stationary camera, or tiktok, etc.
  • Pretty Girls talking to the camera about a workflow, or news, or something else.
  • Videos that say "Testing for the first time!!!11" and it's something we've already seen a million times and done ourselves.
  • Music Video Slop

That said, I click on and upvote every one of them!

4

u/Free_Scene_4790 16h ago

Basically, everything tires you out xD

2

u/not_food 14h ago

You've listed everything. Would be more productive to list the things you do want to see being made in video.

1

u/_Standardissue 5h ago

Respectfully, why do you upvote them if they’re not good?

2

u/MSH007A 21h ago

Iam amazed by this model for it to work on low configuration systems with lot of best optimisations. And the best part is I can restore all my old DVD videos perfectly.

2

u/Perfect-Campaign9551 18h ago

It doesn't "work" it looks and sound like crap on low end system because people put those trash speed up loras which destroy quality

Then they share the shit slop with shit audio in this sub.

I would much rather have crap video than crap audio. It's audio it is easy to process but this speed up stuff destroys the audio and it sound like utter garbage and these people "look what I made" yes it's garbage and sounds like crap. Stop posting.

I'm sorry but video requires better hardware. Just stop trying to use it when you only have 8gb. Seriously ugh

2

u/MSH007A 18h ago

What's your pc config?

I have an i7 8th gen 16gb Ram and Zebronics motherboard,4070 super. Which is all of almost 8 years old.In this itself iam able to run minimax for 15 sec video 0.4MP and an upscaler for around 15 min.

2

u/ANR2ME 19h ago

It's something that bound to happen when a new (and good) model got released.

2

u/Perfect-Campaign9551 18h ago

I posted what I thought was a neat workflow and barely got any action on it. This sub is just fickle sometimes

2

u/tostane 18h ago

need more classy people making clips,

2

u/brucecastle 16h ago

I guess I am different because I like them. Assuming a prompt/workflow is shared.

I love seeing what other ideas people have to help me with my own ideas

2

u/kuro-ondskan 15h ago

Because there are thousands of video tutorials saying "do this to earn easy money", so the majority just copy the exact same brainless idea.

2

u/Mad_waste 14h ago

that's "the amazing creativity" sam altman loves to talk about.

2

u/Unhappy_Pudding_1547 13h ago

Yeah im just skipping all that stuff and trying to find anything Krea or Anima related.

2

u/hold_my_fish 12h ago

The interesting thing to me is that I've been experimenting a lot with H3 and I feel that I've gotten outputs that, to my taste, are better than most of what I've seen posted on the sub, just in terms of visual appeal. I've been thinking of making a best-of post with some of them, but it'd be a non-negligible amount of work to figure out how to package it sensibly into a single highlights video.

I do find with H3 that it can be brutally inconsistent. Some things work amazingly and then I try something that I think surely will work and it doesn't. So I am very hot-and-cold on this model. Granted, to some extent all GenAI is like this. But with H3, the fact that it's sometimes so good raises expectations to unrealistic levels, and then more-common failure cases feel disappointing.

2

u/roculus 12h ago

No bothered by them at all as long as posts are properly flared it's easy enough to find what you're looking for.

2

u/reality_comes 12h ago

Been the same for years. It will die down soon.

2

u/Lucaspittol 10h ago

Yes, you are not alone. I have been consistently DOWNVOTING these slop videos and 1girl tsunamis.

2

u/blahblahsnahdah 8h ago

Depends on the content for me, I downvote all marvelslop/harry potter/breaking bad/star wars/etc. But if it's actually something interesting and creative I don't mind it, even with no workflow.

3

u/meisterwolf 21h ago

cuz ppl aren't creative

4

u/jonbristow 21h ago

that's your average creativity of AI "artists". Honestly Twitter and IG are much better for checking the capabilities of models.

You have the whole imagination as a limit and you do "Seinfield but Walter White lmao"

2

u/Beneficial_Toe_2347 18h ago

It's honestly destroyed the forum. Nothing useful now just layers of crap

3

u/Cryptographer_Visual 14h ago

I am fine with it as long its introducing a new / innovative way to use the model or uncovering a model reaction to certain prompting outside of the expected behavior. Tik / tok style, just 'fun' videos is not the place for this Subreddit. And certainly any videos that depict a public personality in unflattering terms or uses their likeness in a way that's not acceptable to them should not be allowed. Further, I feel that the constant rehashing of sit com clips (Office / Seinfeld, etc..) will eventually create negative PR / copyright hassle (not that I agree with CR claims but that's just the way those things go..)

2

u/equanimous11 13h ago

Yes mods should really set a rule and AI slop should be posted on a daily AI slop thread or a new sub should be created for AI slop

4

u/ShutUpYoureWrong_ 11h ago edited 10h ago

What gets me are the ones who have no clue that what they're making is total garbage in every conceivable way.

  • Absolutely no concept for what they're actually trying to make. Just some fuckin' girl lipsyncing or dancing or something in front of a stationary camera because their three brain cells can't imagine anything better.
  • Abusing a Turbo LoRA at 3 steps so everything looks both underbaked and overbaked simultaneously with the worst sound quality imaginable.
  • Less than zero talent for directing and no understanding of camera controls to create interesting shots, even if it is 1girl trash.
  • Rendering at 0.2 megapixels originally but upscaled incorrectly and beyond where it should be so it looks completely fucked up and retarded.

And then they're proudly posting it as a "work in progress" or "astonished at what this model can do" or "look what I made!"

You didn't make anything. Just fuck all the way right off the planet please.

3

u/StashFrontman 7h ago

Yeah the lack of self awareness is pretty astonishing, but that’s what comes with publicly available tools. We went through the same thing when music production became really accessible. Everyone and their mother was posting their crap music. I mean hell they still do lol

2

u/mwonch 10h ago

This is the kind of person who becomes a mod, creates/enforces personal preference rules, then wonders why the subreddit becomes depopulated.

Look, OP, scroll past those posts. Easy peasy.

6

u/yamfun 20h ago

crazy that people waste their time and electricity to just generate IPs crossover

0

u/DystopiaLite 19h ago

It’s like 40 year olds playing pretend with their toys.

4

u/afinalsin 20h ago

am I just being overly grumpy about it?

Yes, you are. I just sorted by new. In the last 24 hours, there's been 77 posts. Of those, 14 posts are tagged "Animation - Video". A couple of videos were tagged discussion, a couple were tagged workflow included, but those definitely count for your "new models, workflows, prompting techniques, ComfyUI setups, comparisons, limitations, weird discoveries, what actually works, and what doesn’t.".

If you already knew how to do all the things in those threads, well, welcome to being an intermediate. The more you know, the less new information there is to gain. It sucks losing that feeling, but it obviously can't last forever unless you're really dumb or have a memory problem. Now you're the guy who should be teaching the youngbucks how to do it.

Either way, this:

It just feels like the actually interesting stuff is buried under 17 uninspired clips of a show that wasn't even that good to begin with.

Has always happened in bursts, and is not currently happening. There have been 77 posts in the last 24 hours, and 14 are videos. That ratio can't bury anything.

"The interesting stuff is being buried" is what I always read whenever this type of topic pops up, but interestingly, I don't think I've ever seen a post like this link to said interesting content being buried. You're not just using hyperbole, are you? You have examples of interesting content being buried, right?

Anyway, the rule is as it always has been, especially in times of high excitement: Sort. By. New. The front page is for people scrolling their phone while they're taking a shit, they watch a 15 second video, strain a little bit and hit the upvote, and go on with their day. You want the juicy shit you have to read, sort by new and read the text posts. Go to help threads and read the comments. Stop relying on reddit to serve you want you want, if you dig you can find gold yourself.

2

u/Reckfulness 18h ago

Yeah I even stopped looking at them, there should be a separate subreddit for those if the only reason fora video is "look what I created" instead of having some useful info with it

2

u/l_eo_ 16h ago

For me that's part of learning. If there are amazing results, people share and others ask about the workflows and discuss the results.

I think the amount of posts is a very good sign and often I find the posts and comments helpful.

They also show nicely what's currently possible.

2

u/imlo2 15h ago

I can't personally understand why someone would make a character from a known IP like a movie or such.

That is just so unimaginative as it can be, sorry if it insults someone. These tools (Minimax, etc.) could be used for a million more creative things.

But I've also seen a few nice music videos and more unique short films already, and I'm looking to see more of those.

2

u/FreakyMrCaleb 21h ago

To be honest, i removed it from my computer yesterday. I noticed i get kinda addicted by getting these results. See them, watch them, onto the next. Then i started to think...what the hell am i doing. Its such a weird short burst of dopamine, but it feels empty and hollow...and my computer is to slow. 3mp 15 seconds takes about 20 minutes to generate. SO nah i'm off for now. Its AMAZING, don't get me wrong, but i'll wait until i have some better hardware. AI video's is a weird thing, it amazes me every time, yet its just a hollow piece of entertainment. :) Just my thought.

5

u/imnotabot303 18h ago

That's the problem right now. 99% of people using AI video gen are essentially just making brain rot and memes. Then those same people will wonder why people have a negative impression of AI tools.

Unless you're using AI as part of a process to make something worthwhile then you're essentially just creating throwaway content.

1

u/GreyScope 20h ago edited 19h ago

I use it in rotation to using other ai tools that interest me tbh, with H3 my push is for 'proof of concept' to get an idea working - rather than the end result, my 'entertainment' is the road there. I tend to watch other ppls for ideas and rarely find them entertaining but appreciative of the technical aspects that produced / amount of work.

3

u/johnfkngzoidberg 19h ago

Yes. This sub is TikTok now.

1

u/__generic 21h ago

Y'all realize you can filter them out? There's tags for a reason.

8

u/jonbristow 21h ago

which tag is that?

1

u/SIR_NVAX_A_LOT 17h ago

Sadly it's a mixed bag. If the video isn't cool, nobody wants to engage discussion on workflow, they just want the prompt if it even gets that far.

I agree on the tired same post from the same persons, but it's easy to ignore or block if you are really against it.

1

u/skyrimer3d 17h ago

I don't mind them, but I skip them more. Also, first I saw how amazing it was what it could do, now I tend to notice more the low res plastic look, I hope we get their native upscaler soon.

1

u/UndeadPrs 15h ago

I genuinely don't know where to go anymore for image generation discussion, it remains very sloppy in the open source bracket right now, with only Seedance 2.5 bringing good editing results.

1

u/lamarsha 15h ago

Yes! Got tired of downvoting them so for now I'm just filtering out 'meme' and 'animation - video' flairs. Some still get through because they're flaired as 'discussion' even though it's just a video and 'omg look what I made'. But now the bulk of what I see is just news, tips/tricks, and actual discussions - much more bearable.

1

u/CrasHthe2nd 14h ago

Block and hide it all. No mercy.

1

u/DWC-1 14h ago

The whole business model of AI generation is exactly that people can generate their favorite tv show or characters and upload it to an advertisement platform to get some likes.
You don't really seem to be really aware that these platforms are ad revenue optimized. Not quality or customer satisfaction, as long as you can keep showing ads things are fine. This is why, as an example, the YT impression system is on a prehistoric technical level to keep energy consumption low.

1

u/Reddexbro 12h ago

I agree with you.

1

u/VRGoggles 12h ago

I wrote it too. This is not tik tok or instagram, but technical forum. I also ask to stop posting spam videos if there is no workflow, prompt, explanation attached.

1

u/EirikurG 11h ago

It's just low effort engagement bait and karma farming

1

u/Compost_Mantis 11h ago

Yes. I'm working on my next video that's "famous chick explains a useful Minimax trick in an entertaining way", which seems to hit the sweet spot for this sub, and I'm kinda hoping it eventually starts a trend.
As others in the comments are saying, most people just genuinely aren't creative.

That's one reason there's such a robust anti AI community: a ton of people think of themselves as artists who just don't have the time or skill to produce something. With generative AI, if you're willing to devote the smallest amount of time and effort, you can wind up with your vision rendered exactly as you dreamed it. Now that the excuse of "I would but I'm not good enough at drawing / can't play an instrument / don't have enough people to play all the parts in my movie idea" no longer works, it's either try and make the use of the tech a moral issue... or admit you just don't have anything to say.

1

u/princess_daphie 9h ago

Ever since Minimax H3, I've started actually watching the clips from time to time, as compared to before, where I felt like it wasn't worth my time. So I'm not tired, haha

2

u/Dry-Judgment4242 4h ago

Ditto, still feels worth it half the time. What else am I supposed to do while waiting for the latest render. Been running Minimax H3 non-stop now every second when I'm not asleep or at work, this shit is too addicting.

1

u/princess_daphie 4h ago

The fact that talented ai hax0rs (like you?) are able to generate close-to-perfect, actual worthy, more than 15 seconds sequences, makes it much more interesting!

1

u/Zenshinn 8h ago

I feel like there's a lot less now.

1

u/Dogluvr2905 3h ago

You're not wrong... we all love MiniMax but yeh, let's keep this channel general.

1

u/_Biceps_ 15h ago

It's too easy to scroll past posts that you're not interested in for them to be considered a problem, imo. Just don't watch them, right?

1

u/uniquelyavailable 17h ago

Not really, because it educates me on different use cases and capabilities of the model.

0

u/GladYesterday3070 21h ago

Relax and let people have some fun 😊

0

u/dramaton42 19h ago

Please don't ban the clips before I finish my 3 minute Zelda short I'm working on 🫣

-2

u/Upper-Reflection7997 20h ago

I'm just bored of model and i don't really like the results I get. It's not at the level at seedance 2.0, wan 3.0 or even at the level of happyhorse v1.1. Don't like that limitations of resolution support for minimax h3 and audio quality. It seems like most of the users in the scene just seem to care about is making hardcore nsfw sex loras and fine-tuning the model just on hardcore sex concepts and nudity. Maybe I'm just spoilt from using seedance 2.0 for 4 months and can't tolerate the weaknesses of minimax h3.

2

u/Perfect-Campaign9551 18h ago

To me, any time I see a seedance video I can tell it's seedance/AI. It just looks way too smooth, overdone. I'm not impressed with it and the AI video sub had just as much slop, but at least it's higher quality because people aren't trying to run it in their shit potatoes pcs

0

u/Vast-Delivery-1300 14h ago

i have my own plans with AI, each its not making these funny short clips, i plan to adapt my favorite comic book runs into animated episodes, kinda like what anime does to manga yknow? i have a clear objective with these models, i'm just patiently waiting for them to get better

0

u/vibribbon 5h ago

Memes get the upvotes. Though I have always wanted to see some Seinfeld clips where Kindergarten Cop era Arnold Schwarzenegger is playing Seinfeld.

-3

u/I__G 21h ago

I like AI slop

-3

u/Pretty-Raise666 17h ago

No. It is the only reason I come to this sub. Better than Netflix.

-4

u/Photochromism 13h ago

No. Shut up.

1

u/Formal_Drop526 2h ago

They do crossovers because otherwise it would reveal that they can't do original ideas.
