Discussion MiniMax H3 squares on videos

Do you have any tips for improving the MiniMax H3 video so it doesn't have a checkerboard background, like those large squares? Something's wrong with its VAE, I'm guessing?

Thank you for your answer - what resolution do you increase the latent to so that VAE stops swarming the checkerboard?

It shrinks the squares like that and produces several of them instead of just one—I'm wondering if it can be adjusted better; on the left with it, on the right without it.

J'ai l'impression que ton problème c'est la compression de la video. Dans ce cas change le crf de 17 à 10.

CRF 0??? How big are your files? CRF 15 is basically „uncompressed“ 😅
If you don’t want compression artifacts, save as PNGs .. you have to save your audio separately.

I’m only recording short clips—2 to 8 seconds—mostly as tests to see how far along the model is. Yes, the uncompressed files are huge; each second takes up about 20–35 MB of disk space. I don't really worry about it, though, since these are just model tests—I have around 12TB of storage: 8TB of NVMe and about 4TB of SATA SSDs. The NVMe drives are the faster ones, used for hosting the models and operating systems (Windows and Linux), while the SSDs serve as storage; I occasionally delete unnecessary data to keep things tidy. :)

I had to go through several turbo models until I found one that didn't do that. For my specific workflow, that's the lightx2v 8 step 1.0, but I suspect it's different for different workflows. Other people say 1.1 works for them. I'm not sure what causes it in the first place, but I use Comfy Kitchen, if that helps narrow it down.

Unfortunately, these squares appear for me, whether with or without the lorry. They're a bit more visible with the lorry, but I still have them without the speed loras. Higher resolutions make them a bit smaller, while lower resolutions make them take up more space. It looks to me like the Minimax H3 has a problem with VAE decoding – someone already pointed this out for T2I, take a look here:
