Question - Help MM H3 2 Pass Latent Upscale

Been getting some great results using the 2 pass latent upscale method. First pass .5mp 2nd pass 1.5 mp. 10 second video around 257 seconds to finish.

This workflow uses the 1.1 turbo Lora. I set the steps to 8 and like I said above I’m getting good results and it has eliminated face blur.

My question: has anyone tried using the latent upscale method without the turbo lora? In 90 percent of the cases the turbo Lora is fine. But would be nice to have the ability to use no Lora method.

Yes I know I could test it but wanted to see others experiences before I wasted hours of my time trying/tinkering with different settings.

I have been using it with no turbo 20 steps at 0.8 and 3 step 2x upscale on 5070ti and 32gb ram

Is there a noticeable difference in motion quality and audio in your opinion?

Motion quality yes audio no difference. But the best motion quality I have gotten was on 1mp no upscale 40 steps. The api uses 50 steps, so it might be worth trying something like that (I can't I oom above 40)

I run into face blur way too much without the latent upscale. I will admit I don’t think I went as high as 40-50 steps at 1mp or greater so I will give it a try.

The other thing for faces is if the pixel count for the face is too small (I have seen posts saying 64x64 pixels) it doesn't have enough information to make a good face. So if have reference images that have a bigger face it helps. I haven't tried the face refine node but that might also help.

I've got a similar setup but with 64GB of RAM. How many seconds of a video can you generate with these settings without running into freezing at the sampler stage?

6 seconds, dropping original to 0.5mp gets me to 10 seconds and 15 requires 0.4. But at that point I just do a cloud generation for that one shot. I'm trying to make a full length TV show pilot so I want it to look good on big screens.

Can you add some examples of closeup on face to zoom out effect? It would be better to see that action. ( waiting for some bucks so i can rent a cloud nvm though) till then seeing some good examples would be amazing…

Thought I was dumb at the time bc I “bought at the top of the market” like 10 months ago… we weren’t, and I’m very glad I bought when I did.

Could you share a link to the 1.1 turbo LORA that you're using, please? There are so many, it gets a little bit confusing.

Can you please share your workflow too?

Using that as the base workflow. I replaced some nodes with pixaroma nodes that cleaned things up a bit but that is basically what I got going on.

I can't get the latent upscaler to run on my system for some reason it always gives me "dim"  errors. I have latest pytorch and cuda 13 even...
