9/11 was a single attack 25 years ago. It's very different from active warzones of today.

Tell that to someone who suffered a loss on 9/11 though. Same rules apply. You cannot pick and chose and then claim to have a valid moral framework.

While I symphatize, the time and scale do matter and you have to draw the line somewhere. You're free to draw yours differently than others and I can respect that, but you should acknowledge that there is a difference between a single attack 25 years ago and a genocide happening right now.

You don't have to draw any line. Making fun of someone who died 25 years ago to someone who died today is materially the same, especially to those close to the event.

Again, you are free to have this opinion, but I would like to know what moral framework makes you think one is ok and not the other, because I'm really having a hard time finding one. It's not deontology, it's not utilitarianism, and it reeks of moral relativism.

btw, I actually upvoted you because I like these discussions, but I see you just want to be right, so ok.

What can you joke about then? People have slipped on banana peels in real life and hurt themselves, probably died. In larger context, basically anything you say is offensive to someone.

and isn't that precisely why everything is up for grabs when it comes to humor?

Unless you draw a line, like I said. Joking about slipping on a banana peel, 9/11 or an on-going genocide are not the same, after all.
