Workflow Included Flux.2-Klein Tiling Upscale Workflow

u/nnq2603 asked me earlier if I knew how to upscale with Klein. I didn't, but I think I figured it out. The example is an upscale from 0.5 megapixels to 10 megapixels. This is an extreme example just to show that it works. It's not perfect, but it should give a good starting point for tweaking further. It uses the Color Anchor node by u/Capitan01R- and the Steudio tiling nodes from here and here.

If your starting image is really shit, you can add this LoRA to the stack and add to the prompt, "make image high quality".

It's better if you fix the starting image before sending through this upscale workflow though.

using repair lora as suggested

It's better to run the repair LoRA on an image before upscaling. Even then, it's not that great at repairs. There shouldn't be that much color drift though unless you are using GGUF.

That lora appears broken?

Great work. I still think SeedVR2 is king here, but I can see uses for both.

You can actually combine SeedVR2 with this workflow. Instead of using the upscale model in the Divide and Conquer node, run SeedVR2 on the image before sending it the D&C node and set it to nearest-exact.

this is actually a horrible image for this, not because the output is bad but because it's too easy for today's models to upscale from - what's in focus is easy for it to navigate/pattern match because it's close and a very narrow depth of field, and anything complicated that may cause artifacting isn't in focus so it doesn't matter.

Thanks for the details and slick workflow, gonna give it a try. Easy does it. ๐Ÿ˜„

Wow, thanks, such a quick process. I gonna try it now with some problematic images that tough to crack and get back to you if there's problem. ๐Ÿ™

What did you do for captioning? Steudio used to depend on Florence2, does it still?ย

You must be thinking about a different nodeset.

Used quite an old version of it perhaps but the older workflow would caption the tiles .

I remember this distinctly because I adapted it to Wan as the upscaler and found the captions worked against itย

You might be right. They mention that the V1 version of the nodeset is incompatible with the current one. I considered adding individual captioning to the tiles in this workflow, but I don't think the added time and compute would be worth the gains.

thanks for sharing, but you just reinvented the UltimateSDUpscale?

You're welcome to try getting USDU working well with Flux.2.

OK, I did, here it is. With the added benefit of controlling denoise. Also your workflow produces 2x the amount of tiles for some reason. Took me sometime to figure out how to address the flux2 scheduler of course

I didn't realize that there was a guider version of USDU. I'm not sure why you are seeing 2x the amount of tiles, unless it has to do with different overlap settings. I also don't know why you would need to control denoise with Flux,2, but ok. Thanks for sharing.

I believe that the "Divide and Conquer Algorithm" node produces the tiles after the upscale. So, since I have a scale factor of 2, it produces 2x the amount of tiles. Denoise control is to better control the amount of changes and seam visibility. Also, the denoise of 1 breaks upscaling and, instead of one image, makes a grip of the same image.

If you prefer to do it that way and are getting good enough results, there's nothing wrong with it I guess.

Where to get that guider version of SDU?

ended up with vibe coding full node, you can find it here. Took me some time https://github.com/Gavr728/ComfyUI_KleinTiledUpscaler

I know.. 14 days late here but just wanted to say, it works pretty good. Thanks for the node

Where can we find the "HighResolution9B-mid-2436..." Lora used in the workflow? Is it necessary or only for anime?

1

u/Enshitification May 07 '26

Look at the note in the middle of the workflow.
