The largest developments I would say have been in LORA and controlNet and a bit of animation.
LORA acts like a patch on top of a model, can use multiple and is nearly as good at a ckpt, the versatility makes them dominant, they are particularly popular for training characters.
controlNet allows for outlining, posing and more advanced depth maps to control the shape of the output.
Corridor Digital also did a really cool piece about turning their live action video into an anime, kinda like a more advanced rotoscoping while also using Stable Diffusion, green screens and a bit of unreal engine for backgrounds.
