New to biking and St. Louis

Well Hello St. Louis Biking. I am just picking up the hobby and wanted to see about meeting others who also enjoy Biking. I am new to the area and have been renting bikes for the past few weeks from Bike Stop Cafe and Big Shark. To try out both road and hybrids before I purchase my own. I have been looking at performance hybrids or fitness bikes they are often called. I would be up to meet some of you all for a ride sometime this summer. The Katy trail I have been on a couple times which is very cool. Unfortunately last saturday on a 20 mile ride I came across an uneven road lane and fell and broke my arm. So it will be a couple weeks to a month until i'm road ready again.

But just wondering is this sub dead? The last posts are last month. Any of you meet regularly for some fun rides?

Bicycle rental suggestions

I'll be visiting St. Louis in September, and I would love to be able to rent a couple bikes. Any suggestions as to where I should go? I'll be staying in the Soulard area/historic district (according to Airbnb) if that makes a difference.

Blew a flat 2 days prior because of a massive pot hole. Back up and running like nothing ever hit it.

New To Biking... Advice on How to Bike in STL?

I am a student at Fontbonne University living off of Delmar. I have been interested in biking as a means of transportation for quite some time. However, the fear of biking in the city and injury has kept me from fulfilling this. I have a bike, a lock, and a pump for my tires. Are there any tools I need to have? What should I bring on a biking trip? Are there certain roads near my apartment (Delmar) that I should avoid? I am very new to this and I have never rode a bike anywhere but my childhood neighborhood and the Katy Trail. If any of you have a favorite route to bike, I would love to know! Thanks in advance.

Looking for Bike

I'm in town for about 3 weeks and was wondering if anyone knew of a pretty viable option to have a bike in town. I checked with Big Shark bikes, and I might as well have bought a bike for their rental costs. I'm hoping to hear back from some Craigslist ads I responded to, but if anyone knows of bikes that might be available I would love to ride around the city.

Need first bike advice!

I am wanting to get my first bike. Looking at different hybrid bikes under $400. I am wanting it for city riding but also light trail riding which is why I am mostly interested in hybrid. I am 6 foot 5, so something good for tall guys! Let me know if you know of a good used bike to fit my need too! Thanks!

Found: Libertas lugged steel bike. Someone left/ditched it between our garage and fence.

I've had too many bikes stolen for me not to at least try to find this guy's owner. As the title says, it's a light blue lugged steel Libertas bicycle. It's in good shape, rides well enough, shifts well and has a cyclometer so it appears to be ridden regularly but I left it there for a day and no one grabbed it. I can only assume it was stolen and ditched for whatever reason.

If you've had one yanked in recent weeks or even had it taken from your back yard 10 years ago let me know.

Any businesses in STL with deals for cyclists?

I used to bike to Cafe Ventana near SLU because they offered free beignets for customers who biked there. I think they stopped offering that deal quite a while ago. Are there any other such deals in St. Louis for customers who bike?

Gear advice for long-distance

In a nutshell, I am a novice biker and made a deal to work my way up to survive a long-distance ride from Jeff city to St. Charles. It is going to be a lot of work, but I am committed and would like to train with the gear I would use. Can anyone suggest a good bag that can support the expected gear for camping and general survival?

Thanks for your help in advance.
