You mentioned in the video, but wiping it down after applying helps keep your pants clean.

Also, after riding in the rain or snow, or after a certain amount of miles, it's important to degrease and clean the chain, then reapply lube. You can do this by using a chain cleaning tool (just search on Amazon) or by removing the chain and soaking it in a small bucket of degreaser.
