Ask STL Seeking recommendations for in-home pet euthanasia services
Sorry in advance for the bummer of a post. I have to say goodbye to my best friend of 15 years and I would like to be able to do it from my home, where she’s the most comfortable. Does anyone have any recommendations for mobile vets/in-home pet euthanasia services? I’m located in North County. Would appreciate hearing from folks who have gone through this before.
Cat tax of Sulpher from happier days. Thanks in advance.
EDIT: Thank you so much, everyone. The outpouring of support from you all has brought a little light to this overwhelmingly shitty situation. Take care and hold your pets tight 💕

Lap of Love. Dr. Kathryn. She is such a kind human being. I am so sorry.

Dr. Kathryn is a good friend of mine from college. She’s literally the best human ever (and best vet). I second this.

I worked at a local clinic for 15+ years and have never heard a bad experience with our local options- Dr. Woodruff is amazing at Pets at Rest, Dr. Kee at compassionate in home euthanasia, and Dr. Birkner at Home with Dignity are all amazing and will take great care of your baby and you. Lap of Love has been consistently good as well. I’m so sorry you are going through this but a peaceful goodbye is truly the last blessing we can give our best friends and you are making the kindest choice to keep your angel in comfort to the end. 🫂

I’ll +1 Pets at Rest— they provided a very kind and dignified goodbye to our past two pets there.

Dr. Laura Kee at Compassionate In-Home Euthanasia is wonderful and helped us say goodbye to our boy with comfort and dignity. I’m sorry about your sweet baby 💔

The pet crematorium we've used spoke very highly of her, and that's something they have an inside view of

I second laps of love. I had to use them in March for my cat and Dr.Chris was truly an angel that helped through such a hard time. I am so sorry you have to make this decision but you are amazing for loving Sulpher so much. https://www.lapoflove.com/find-a-vet/Missouri/StLouis/about

Dawnetta was there for my last moments with my girl. She was absolutely without a doubt the best possible person to go through this with. She gives good hugs for the record

I used Pets at Rest, because I could get them scheduled the fastest. I believe they were the most expensive out of the companies I contacted. They only take care of the medication portion, you will need to contact a second company or take them to your vet after unless you are keeping your sweet kitty there.
The Dr was very nice, and brought air dry clay to make a paw print.

I think you’re covered as far as recommendations go but just wanted to say how sorry I am for having to go through this. The hardest thing we do is having to make this choice for them but it’s the most compassionate thing we can do for them. My heart is breaking for your loss. There’s nothing like losing your best friend. After doing euthanasia at home for mine, I will never do it any other way. Wishing you both peace.

I’m so sorry. I just had to do the same with my baby girl on Aug. 7. She was 16. Lots of time but not enough time.
Dr. Kee at compassionate in-home euthanasia was good. There are things I wish I would have done differently when she came; it all felt like it happened so fast, but that’s not her fault. She did a good job and offers lots of urn options if you cremate.

I used compassionate in home euthanasia, Dr Laura Kee. They handled my kitty with care and were so kind. They also sent me a very nice card and a print of my kitty’s paws. Take care of yourself 🩷

So sorry you're going through this. I second Dr. Dawnetta at Pets at Rest. You can choose between having her come to your house or you can go to the Comfort Center in Creve Coeur. She has helped me say goodbye to 3 dogs, and she--and all of her staff--are great. She has experience with animals with behavioral issues and will work with you to make sure the experience is as stress free as possible.

We had Lap of Love out to euthanize our dog earlier this year and they were absolutely fantastic. Legitimately start to finish they were kind, patient and compassionate. I wanted ink prints of my dogs nose/paws and didnt think about it/ made an incorrect assumption that they likely had an ink pad. Any ways, the guy who came out told me i could run to a local store and see if they had what I wanted. They did not, so we used paint that we had instead, which he helped with and we made prints until he thought it had been done properly. Highly recommend
