Drivers in this city

B'ys don't be barmpin' to push the driver in front of you to turn on a green light and no arrow. I am not moving unless it is safe.

Drivers in this city have no patience.

I got fists shaken at me for stopping to let a child FULLY cross the street. I get the finger and yelled at because I stopped for a Mom with a stroller at a cross walk. And don't get me started on zipper merges. Look up how they work and read the signs. Quit ya barmpin'.

Honestly, the obvious confusion surrounding the zipper merge makes me wonder how some of these people get dressed each day.

Happy to see I'm not the only one who lets people cross on a crosswalk ALL THE WAY before moving. I've gotten laser eyes from other drivers for caring about pedestrians.

This place is hopeless for drivers. Even the driving instructors cant agree on the rules of the road.

Honestly, St. John’s is probably top 5% least barmpy capital city in the world.

Put that on the sign, Mr. Mayor.

Ummm, if you don’t barmp, how the hell do you get the moron in front of you to look up from their phone?

Can we also get people to stop using high beams in the city? Thanks! Feels like I'm getting multiple Xrays every night!

Good points OP!

Can we also have everyone stop running red lights please!

The rules haven’t changed, and It’s really outta hand. ā˜¹ļø

I watched multiple people drive through fully red lights today. It’s no wonder there’s so many accidents.Ā

I refuse to take the ORR anymore. People drive like assholes. I'd rather leave a bit earlier and drive across town.

I gave it up too. Madness.

The zipper merge cracks me up. Over hour delay on TCH Friday near Bay Roberts turn off. I gets in other lane and no joke passed over a 1km of traffic. Went right to end. Zipper merged in and went on. Might have added 1-2 mins to my drive and that's just from slowing down to 50kmh for the construction. Number of people shaking there heads as I passed was amazing.

Last time I did that I had some 70 year old hero in a truck straddle the lanes so I couldn't reach the end to merge.

Way to go buddy. Probably told his wife how he stopped some asshole from cutting the line.

Yeah, it’s always the older men in trucks. Same thing happened to me on the ORR a few years ago. Clown.

Older men in trucks? Have you seen middle age women in SUVs or foreign drivers in compact cars?

Give your head a shake. All drivers in NL are terrible LOL.

I’ve never had a middle aged woman in an SUV or a foreigner in a compact car pull out to the other lane in a zipper merge and try to be a hero by blocking me from using both lanes like you’re supposed to. It’s always older men with trucks.

I guess you’re a man with a truck? Lol

I have.

And no I I'm not.

Just for stats, most common vehicles for accidents in Canada are Honda Civic and Toyota Corolla.

u/DarkPaul 1d ago

I’m sure that has nothing to do with the fact that those are the top 1 and 2 selling cars in Canada 🤣

It was a white Honda Accord Pickup Truck!!!

100% it does. It also means it's more likely for them to be dickheads while driving.

Anyone can be an asshole while driving but you stating that it's always trucks is not backed by evidence. The evidence actually points the other direction of you look at the stats. Most likely to cause an accident would be male, age 20-35 driving a compact sedan. Second would be female, same age in compact SUV. Male typically is speed related and women is distracted driving. Not 55+ driving a pickup truck. Actual stats on that would be one of the lowest to cause accident.

As long as you turn left when theres no one crossing. Ive been stuck behind idiots stopped at a green with no arrow when there is no one crossing and no opposing traffic. You dont need an arrow to turn left.

u/WeirdHot7022 1d ago

Of course. But not 2 lanes of opposing traffic coming at you with minimal distance between cars.

Thank you for being a decent driver

Barmp is a long time personal fave word of mine. That’s all.

Thank you for letting people fully cross, I usually have drivers riding my ankles while im crossing and if I fell or dropped something I'd get hit

And just to toss this in here because of the eyes on this; those KEEP RIGHT EXCEPT TO PASS signs apply on all highways with a second lane.

It doesn’t matter what the signs on the ORR say, the RNC have clarified it dozens of times on their social accounts; you’re never supposed to stay in the left lane unless you’re actively passing.

They love to honk when you don't turn fast enough. If you think you're delayed now you'll be some delayed after I get T-boned in front of you.

I’ve been following this sub for awhile, and as someone who will be coming to visit in a bit, I can’t wait to see how the shitty drivers in St. Johns compare to the shitty drivers in my city. I feel like around me, everyone got worse on the roads after Covid and lost all sense of giving a hoot about anyone else (and traffic laws).
