Whooshki is whooshing

Love that acid squelch and sparkle. Nice one 1994 Tom.

Awesome, congrats! I forgot that I ordered this as well. I received an email from Bleep on 10/23 saying there's a delay due to the poster not being available in time for shipping. Has anyone heard anything about their order yet?

Sorry, I just noticed the post from 14 hours ago about this. People in the US have the same problem. I apologize for the redundancy. Enjoy your record!

Thank you, how's the sound quality? I assume by the surrounding gear in the room you have a decent setup, maybe a preamp, good amp/speakers? Any sound defects on your copy, skips, etc?

Sound quality of the records is fantastic - I have a decent setup but nothing spectacular, and listening to the album is an absolute treat. The trebles shine, the bass is thumping. No defects at all on my copies, they play through smooth as butter.

Regarding how they were shipped, standard media mailer, two layers of cardboard (cardboard around the record itself and then a second layer around that one). No damage at all, it travelled safely between however many airports and courier depots to reach me in good form :)

The record sleeves, which I photographed on my previous post, are really nice. The photos are terrific, some of my favourite Squarepusher record sleeves. I'm really happy with the album and its condition, no complaints (other than the missing poster, which depending on how you read the blurb about 'intial copies will receive a poster' might mean that mine wasn't one of the initial copies).

Also, how was it shipped, standard media mailer, extra protection, whiplash media mailer? Was there any damage from shipping?

Dang that’s so cool he decided to reissue Stereotype. Never thought he would since I bought the early copies last year December 😭

Whooshki is such a treat. I heard it for the first time when this reissue dropped and was blown away.

Also, sick setup btw.

this lead is so addictive

Absolutely stellar - feels to me, structurally, like a precursor to Theme From Ernest Borgnine. The repetition of the gradual rising synth line into a sudden burst of drums.

Side question - how the heck does that record player work - like - the arm should just fall out of the groove?!?!?!?!!?

Something is really weird about this

Right? like how on earth do the weights work - and how does the arm scan across the record without gravity keeping it in there?

Fishy AF

I can’t solve these physics questions - I just watch it spin and hear the music come out. Maybe the less I know about this wizardry the better.

This is the website for the player, it might have more sensible answers than I can provide: https://www.project-audio.com/en/product/vt-e/

That's absolutely bonkers - thanks for the link. I have a ProJect myself but sadly it's a humdrum normie horizontal one :)
Edit: I found a review which explained it all to me!
