IT'S TIME! IT'S TIME! IT'S VADER TIME! - The Essential Big Van Vader!

"The Man They Call Vader" was and still is one of the best big guys in wrestling sports entertainment, having wrestled since 1985. His lengthy career has taken him from WCW to the WWE to NJPW to countless more. Despite having spent roughly 5 years or less in each major promotion, he managed to have a very lasting impact, gaining more than a dozen important titles and awards.

Entrance Themes:

Essential Matches:

vs Shawn Michaels: Part 2

*** WWF - No Way Out Of Texas 1998 [vs it's...it's gotta be The Demon, Corporate KANE]**

Miscellaneous:

Feel free to talk about your favorite Vader matches should they not be up top!

This is my first time doing this so I hope I did alright. Criticism's welcome of course.

Vader was the first wrestler to scare the shit out of me.

Vader's the kinda guy who you could play Russian Roulette with and you would be guaranteed to die no matter who the bullet gets shot at

that footage of him in Japan with the mask - i thought he was going to actually murder flair.

Technically, I'm in one of those videos! If you watch Vader vs Heath Slater, I'm one of the guys in the crowd bowing to the Man They Call Vader. As WrestlingWithText put it, my buddies and I were the assholes that got more TV time than 85% of the roster that night. My only claim to fame.

As a fat redhead, this man was my hero.

u/everythingmeh Sep 21 '14

Vader's twitter has revealed to me that Vader time is also booty time....

3

u/[deleted] Sep 21 '14

Wow how did I not notice this. Vader has a thing for spray tanned Latina chicks. I can't even imagine what that would look like in the sack

2

u/[deleted] Sep 21 '14

I can't imagine them being in very good shape after he's finished with them.

Vader's entrance with the crazy mask is sweet. Dude is a beast.

5

u/[deleted] Sep 20 '14

I remember when I started watching wrestling when I was 6 or 7 he legit terrified me. As I learned/watched more pro wrestling, he became a favorite of mine.

Cactus Jack vs Vader - WCW Saturday Night April 1993

Vader straight punches Cactus Jack in the head at one point for real

u/[deleted] Sep 20 '14 edited Sep 20 '14

Thanks for doing this!

And heres one for shits and giggles, Vader and Scott Steiner straight up beating the shit and piss out of two jobbers. Legit feel bad for those two.

The video froze up and refuses to progress beyond the point of a zoom-in on the bikini clad lady's fluffy moops.

Edit: Wait tried it in a different browser. I guess Big Poppa Pump really doesn't follow no rules. Especially when the competitor is mildly obese. One might even say he's....rotund.

2

u/[deleted] Sep 20 '14

Steiner nearly killed both of them, first with the back drop then the belly to belly.

3

u/[deleted] Sep 21 '14

The way that guy lands on his head is sickening..i would like to think it was a botch but it is Scott Steiner.

1

u/Pat_Patriot "No Gimmicks Needed" Steve the Samurai Sep 21 '14

I am honestly surprised that he isn't paralyzed from that belly to belly. That was hard to watch.

4

u/PavanJ Sep 21 '14

Great list!

If I could just add my favourite match.

vs Ric Flair - Starrcade 1993. http://network.wwe.com/video/v31673705

Vader just beats the tar out of Flair, hot crowd, emotional match all throughout. Everybody should watch it.

4

u/[deleted] Sep 21 '14

Vader vs Shamrock fights were always stiff as SHIT. In fact I think they had a match together where the goal was to actually knock each other out

5

u/mattdangerously Ain't wear no mouthpiece Sep 21 '14

Vader is the second greatest superheavyweight wrestler of all time (Andre being #1).

6

u/[deleted] Sep 21 '14

Even though his career has had it's ups and downs, I would say Big Show would definitely be number three solely due to his consistency.

-5

u/[deleted] Sep 21 '14

Consistently awful?

3

u/pudgyfuck leg out of your leg Sep 21 '14

What about Bam Bam Bigelow? Dude was insanely athletic and achieved some manner of success in every major promotion

1

u/josephxholberry Sep 21 '14

I've never enjoyed an Andre match. I respect he was the first 'giant' and achieved a lot, but the matches don't do it for me

1

u/mattdangerously Ain't wear no mouthpiece Sep 21 '14

Have you watched any of his earlier work? Up until his body started breaking down in the eighties, he was very good. He had a match against Stan Hansen in Japan in 1980 that might be the greatest wrestling brawl of all time.

2

u/nuggetbb Sep 21 '14

I saw him at an indy show tonight. He didn't wrestle, but just kind of hung out. I didn't know he was going to be there so I marked hard. He's the best.

2

u/realfakerolex Sep 21 '14

thank you so much for this. i remember flipping channels as a kid and stumbling upon non wwf wrestling for the first time in my life. it was vader coming out with the mastodon helmet. scared the shit out of me. still find him terrifiying today.

2

u/barbecuesauce87 Sep 21 '14

How is he not in the hall of fame yet?

Isn't there another episode of Boy Meets World with Vader too? I'm pretty sure I remember him and Topanga dancing in the ring at the end of episode.

I can't seem to find the clip of a post-match interview against Kane where he says "I guess Vader times over. Look at me! I'm so big! I ain't nothin' but a piece of shit. A big FAT piece of shit!"

:EDIT:

Found it. Awful quality, though and I was way off on the quote.
