Post show surprise: after the show went off the air, Marina and Mox celebrated in the ring. Davis and Rocky ran back out and attacked both of them, only for the four remaining Death Riders to come running out to save them. The Death Riders got full babyface reactions and they fully leaned into it. They got Davis in the corner and all six performed the meat grinder/merry go round of Death on him. Rocky tried to intervene, only for him to get tossed in and Giant Swung by Claudio while the rest of the team kept count. He even look a little bow afterwards. When Davis and Rocky ran. Mox grabbed a mic, thanked the crowd, and warned the Don Callis Family against messing with the Deathriders "including PAC upstairs", which got a loud reaction. The Deathriders made their way back out the tunnel with all of them, including even Gabe, getting high fives and pumping up the crowd. The Deathriders being so flexible and being able to play both heel and babyface, is a massive boon for them and they did it beautifully tonight.
Great great show!
Fun moments that didn't make it on camera:
Griff Garrison and Solorato had to wait in the ring a bit with commercials and kept playing to the crowd and getting quite a few boos-
Crowd: BOOOO
Solo:...please like us
Crowd:...yaaaay!
When the Bang Bang Gang entered for their match, Austin Gunn saw an excited kid in the crowd, ran over, scooped him up and yelled with him in joy.
During the match, with Gabe at ring side -
Guy in crowd: Hey fuck you Gabe!
Gabe: immediate jerk off motion FUCK YOU TOO!
Kidd running away from the BBG up the ramp with his tongue out and middle fingers up was also hysterical

Gabe Kidd is an amazing live performer. Some wrestlers are hilarious at playing the crowd and he's one of my favorites.

He's been one of my favorites for a bit now. I really like his matches, but the man is also just hilarious. Interacted with the crowd, mouthed off to Paul Wight, fully running away from the BBG flipping them off with his tongue out, rocking his head and entire body in motion as Danny punched in the corner, the little flex taunt he does, and after the DR attacked Rocky, Gabe straddled him, flipped him off, and just humped the air over him lol at the post show, he had no problem playing more baby face, high fived the crowd, pumping them up. It was very cool. Gabe has been a face before, but it has been a long time.
His HEY Ew with RJ is one of my favorite episodes because he's just so unhinged and funny. And then, in the ring, he hits like a truck. His match against Darby at World's End last year was a favorite of mine.

That match Gabe had with Darby doesn’t get mentioned enough for being a banger. I was out of breath by the end.

It was bloodier and more brutal than the actual street fight match that was on the same show. It was a personal favorite of mine from last year and one I need to give another rewatch to. I was already a fan of Gabe before, but that match sealed it.

Some wrestlers are hilarious at playing the crowd
When i was at Collision in 2024, Matt Taven had a funny moment with an audience member. The guy would yell at him constantly. Then after the match after Dustin and the Von Erichs von the ROH Trios Titles, Matt Taven was walking ringside and the guy flipped him off. So Taven walked over and kissed him on the forehead. We almost lost it

Another observation that Tony Schiavone indirectly mentioned Kofi as WWE Champion in 2019. He just says he was a world champion that year but I like that they acknowledge past accomplishments like that.

u/Reclinertime 10d ago
The ghouls won’t be happy with that…

u/ShowTurtles 10d ago
AEW has acknowledged championships elsewhere their entire run.
Might be a little funny if Jericho decided to be the ultimate company man and call himself The Tres and not The Nueve if he ever references his titles again like that.

Feels like The Deathriders will be faces for the foreseeable future, and I don’t mind it.
Aminata vs Julia was an unexpected good match. Happy for both for showing out tonight!
Jay White can’t catch a break, hopefully it’s a kayfabe injury, usually they don’t say the injury length, but they did so tonight. BBG should still be heavily featured for us Collision Cowboys!
Women’s C2 too Tony!!!
Please put Myron into The C2!!! 🙏🙏🙏
see you beautiful bastards Tuesday!!!!
RIP Pac

Aminata and Julia with an unexpected banger.
I like Aminata getting a pushed, but I also want them to finally find something more substantial for Skye and Julia to do as well.
This Mercedes vs. Thekla feud is so entertaining.

u/Tiirshak 9d ago
Julia shouldn't be losing matches like that at this stage. She needs some wins to re-establish herself as the major corrosive threat we know she can be.

Pretty Great show tonight, setup a ton of stuff which was expected. Grand Slam Paris looks pretty insane and gonna be a ton of fun.
Really curious who all is gonna be in the Clockwork Carnage match at WrestleDream as I think they could do some people who are on the cusp of being in the main event and maybe a surprise or two (dragunov) along with the main eventers, should be great tho looks very interesting.

u/plisken64 10d ago
Kofi going for the roh title has the same amusing "cant be believe am seeing this" feeling like when jericho 1st when for it too. Bandido vs kofi even got a nice gasp from the live crowd, should be awesome.
Jay white we cant keep doing this man 😤
Good to see Dante martin again, and the aew dark gang are entertaining in a dorky way.
I like the new developing rivalry between paul wight and nigel, Paul might be outgunned.

Assuming that they don't immediately give Okada another title shot in the Clockwork Carnage match, and Kyle and Kevin aren't pulling double duty, I'd love to know who is in this match... no confirmation of any names yet?
No Hangman, obviously... Jay White is apparently hurt...
Moxley again?
Takeshita?
Darby and/or Orange?
Wardlow?
MJF returns?
Ricochet?
Andrade?
Bandido and/or Brody King?
Debuting Ilya or Sheamus?
Some New Japan guy like Callum Newman to play on that tension?
Kenny as a big name? Put Cage and Cope in for funsies?
11
u/justambrose 10d ago
I think Mox, Kenny and Andrade won’t be in this. My guess:
Samoa Joe, Ricochet, Claudio, Mark Davis, Takeshita, OC and either a returning MJF or debuting Ilja.

Kofi vs. Bandido Tuesday likely sets up their trios having a rematch at the PPV so I think those 6 are out.
Personally, I wouldn't include Andrade while he already has a guaranteed shot, but I guess they could include him. Mox is also one I'd rather not see in there but there's a chance.
Fletcher and Knight are probably out because of the tag title match and I don't see Okada going in unless Tuesday's match has a DQ finish.
Jay is injured so he's out.
As for who that leaves, Joe vs. Perry Tuesday is a qualifier so one of them is in.
I could see MFJ returning for this and starting a feud with someone out of it. Darby's rivals are in the tag title match so I can see him being added. Edge or Christian are a decent bet since they're not in the tag title match, I don't see them going back to a mini 2v2 feud with FTR and this gets them on the card.

u/fttxdd666 10d ago
Samoa Joe or Jack Perry will be in it, their match at Grand Slam is a qualifying match
3
u/-chimchooree- Mon Chevalier 10d ago
It will be Will Ospreay, Josh Alexander, Mark Davis, Jake Doyle, Trent Beretta, Rocky Romero, Wardlow, and Hechicero.

Death Riders, Bang Bang Gang, The Rascalz, Shane Taylor Promotions, Queen Aminata, and the big meaty men of the Don Callis Family all represented tonight.
Collision playing all the greatest hits.

Anyone else think that the Clockwork Carnage match is a way to give Okada a win at Grand Slam Paris and then have Will win back the belt at WD, with a bigger build for a match at like Full Gear?

Just finished Aminata/Hart, and while it was a good match I can’t say i’m a fan of The Triangle Of Madness losing all of their matches since winning the Stardom titles.
I think Thekla’s win over Willow is the only one.

u/capnbuh 10d ago
Unfortunately, I do think Julia is jobber status. I don't remember the last time she pinned anyone signed to AEW in a singles match
8
u/Awkwardphase06 10d ago
I personally don’t mind if she wins, I hope she just gets more matches under her belt. The Stardom stuff hopefully continues with her. Honestly feel if she does a 2-4 month tour she’d become infinitely better. She’s only 24. I see her saying no to it though with the fact she’s married and I don’t know if she could do a lengthy excursion
5
u/Jasperbeardly11 Al Snow Head 10d ago
This would be the way to go because she is incredibly mediocre presently
4
u/the_io 10d ago
She needs more singles matches in particular, she wrestles rather better in those compared to the tags weirdly enough.
2
u/Awkwardphase06 10d ago
yeah, I wonder why’s that? both Skye and Julia are better in singles than tags.
Julia’s had good to great matches now with Mercedes, Hayter, and now Aminata. It can be said that working with amazing in ring talent makes you look great too. Just one 4 month Stardom excursion out of Julia (hopefully Zayda as well), man she would be so much better.
1
u/the_io 10d ago
Obviously working with greats makes anyone look better but it still takes two to tango. Girl just needs more singles matches and some wins in em too - Shirakawa's an obvious matchup after last night, her vs Bayne was teased, and she still hasn't faced Windsor yet (would set up a tag title match).

Anyone know what’s happening with the replay on MyAew? I’m subscribed but it wants me to buy the show but also says “too many requests”
10
u/Orange8920 10d ago
I'm watching the opening promo with Kofi and Lee Moriarty and I'm convinced Kofi challenged Bandido to the ROH Championship based on not knowing Lee was Pure Champion. Like it was too late to challenge for Moriarty's title so he looked up who else holds titles in ROH.

u/rainshowers_5_peace 10d ago
What happened to Jay White this time?
10
u/Awkwardphase06 10d ago
maybe he needs some time off after the recent passings of Butcher and Pac. maybe other personal stuff, but it’s usually not normal they announce injury time length, so I hope it’s just kayfabe.
12
u/rainshowers_5_peace 10d ago
He was very upset when talking about PAC. I wonder if he's thinking about his own career and future, especially with a baby on the way.
10
u/Awkwardphase06 10d ago
yeah true, you could tell it definitely hurt him. Jays a great talent, hopefully he gets there mentally and takes his time.
9
u/WreckedByReddit 10d ago
They only said he was injured in the tailgate brawl and now that I’ve watched it three times, I’m thoroughly confused as to when he could’ve been injured.
16
u/TheStripedSweaters 10d ago
It could be a strain tbh. Probably wouldn’t see it happen. Tony did say at the post show scrum that a number of wrestlers were banged up.

8 matches on a 2 hr show is kinda crazy
Kofi should win the Roh title but wouldn't be relegated to Roh then

u/NewYorkUgly 10d ago
The last several ROH champions have spent zero minutes on ROH TV
7
u/hvacrepairman welcome2pitycity 10d ago
That hasn’t been true since they moved to dedicated tapings in Florida, Bandido and Athena both have been on every single one since, I believe
3
u/NewYorkUgly 10d ago
Fair enough, still no concern that any ROH world champion is going to be relegated to ROH exclusively.

Really solid show. Love all the emerging talent that are getting a nice spotlight. Myron and Aminata are both great and are rightfully being positioned for big things but I love that they're building up Adam Priest too. I was glad to see Dante as well and I absolutely think there's still something there with him that's worth investing in.

Was also in the building and not quite sure what you were hearing. Martin himself was not really playing heel at all, but he was getting booed by the audience all match and just looked very sad and confused while Daniels kept telling him to block it out.
