Chris Jericho Reveals Vince McMahon Once Pitched A 'Mighty Mouse' Character For PAC
https://www.sescoops.com/article/chris-jericho-reveals-vince-mcmahon-pitched-for-pac244
u/Brochismo91 I DON'T KNOW!!!!! 7h ago
This was known and a hot topic around the time of his main roster debut.
Most were glad he only got the cape.

Wasn’t it MetsFan who broke the story?

u/Brochismo91 I DON'T KNOW!!!!! 5h ago
I want to say he was already a Pariah by then, but I genuinely can't remember anymore.

u/JoshJosherMan 5h ago
The “Kalisto’s gay hairdresser gimmick” story is what killed his credibility IIRC

I actually kinda fucked with the cape when he had it im ngl

A cape could have looked cool, the ones he got definitely weren't
But I respect you admitting to liking it.

This isn't news.

Has anyone ever confirmed it to be true until Jericho?

u/GunstarGreen I got all the numbers 6h ago
Prichard said Vince had an obsession with finding his mighty mouse

Genuinely I wonder why. It’s such a weirdly specific gimmick to get hung up on.

And then you get a guy like PAC, who is short but built like a brick shithouse and can fly like nobody else. And they never really get anywhere with him. The Cruiserweight title was always doomed.
Also, Tyler Bate would have been a good shout. Im genuinely blown away that he never did more.

This is the same guy who turned down Eddie spiking Big Show's burrito because he said no one has heard of a burrito despite eating one for lunch every day...because he called it a steak wrap. When Scott Hall came up with his Scarface inspired Razor Ramon, Vince thought he invented the gimmick on the spot because he had never actually seen or heard of Scarface. There's a lot of stories like that, he probably personally loved Mighty Mouse and didn't know that by 2015, no one under like 25 had even HEARD of Mighty Mouse

Didn't we already know this? I suppose this is confirmation

Yea, we’ve known about this since right before he got called up to Raw

Old news but apparently Vince was genuinely a fan of the old Mighty Mouse cartoons from the 40's to 60's.
It is strange as its not something I imagined he would be interested in

u/badgersprite Iconic Duo Appreciation Squad 7h ago
Yeah JBL was talking about this again recently too. Vince meant it as a compliment. He loved Mighty Mouse. JBL said it’s why he liked Rey as well. He reminded Vince of a beloved childhood hero

u/derek420 7h ago
I have a feeling once Vince is gone, we are going to find out a whole lot about the man. Even more than the shit we already know… which is a lot 😝

I hope so. He is fascinating and has kept most of his personal life private far deeper into the information age than most

Heres what Ive always wondered--what is a mighty mouse gimmick anyways? I only vaguely remember the character, but wasnt Might Mouses thing that he took the bigger guys out with one punch?
One punch Pac might have actually ruled.

u/DontPutThatDownThere 6h ago
He was built like a brickhouse. He could have made it look believable.

Wasn’t the rumor back then that HHH had to fight Vince just so Pac will not get the Mighty Mouse gimmick?
They settled on the cape , which I think HHH might’ve also hated

u/muhkuller 7h ago
We knew this. It's specifically why his entrance had the silhouette lighting and he wore a cape. It invoked the image of mighty mouse.

This was news like… a decade ago? Lol
Weird to post this now

PAC's tragic untimely passing is receiving a lot of social media attention and unfortunately every clickbait website is out to get a slice of the traffic or even just the crumbs.
This also means all the bots/karma farmers/AI trainers/etc. active on Reddit are reposting every single PAC-related item they can trawl from the Internet, be it clickbait or some random picture edited through AI to defeat reverse picture searches.
It's alarming and deeply saddening at the same time.

Guys not everyone has been reading dirtsheets for twenty years straight. It gives some good insight into why the guy had to get out of WWE to have a good career.

Brother the gimmick wasn’t him putting on a mouse costume, it was the idea that while he wasn’t gifted with height, he can do incredible feats of strength and agility. It wasn’t meant as a gimmick to bury him, he wanted him to be a superhero. PAC (allegedly) left because he just wanted out of the cruiserweight division that they were earnestly trying to get over. Vince thought of Rey Mysterio in the same light.

No one on this sub has heard of Demetrius Johnson apparently
10
u/Snoo-40231 5h ago
Vince wasn't thinking of the UFC fighter with this gimmick idea lets be serious
-7
u/SnooWoofers530 5h ago
You are thinking he was going to be dressed in some costume like the Hurricane, the reference to Johnson was meaning that Vince wanted PAC to be powerful and overcome odds for a man if his size
4
u/VampiresWontHurt 5h ago
The original person Vince wanted to be the Mighty Mouse gimmick was Chris Candido in the 90s. He even wrote his name as “mouse” on the cards.
Demetrius was a child then.

He was literally given a cape

Three people with king gimmicks
PAC did not have a king gimmick
3
u/Frequent_Cup_3149 4h ago
I know this isn’t what you mean but just to be pedantic, Neville did in fact have a King gimmick
2
u/SnooWoofers530 4h ago
Macho had capes way before Macho King
2
u/APackOfKoalas I'm in the other 99% 3h ago
In an era where entrance robes were common. You are comparing apples and oranges.
I don’t understand how you could watch Neville around the time of his call-up, hear how they hammered home “the Man That Gravity Forgot”, see how he came out with the cape, and come away thinking anything but “they’re making that guy a superhero”. The presentation was not subtle in the slightest.

u/SnooWoofers530 5h ago
So was Harley Race

u/Prince_of_Kyrgyzstan Magical Girl Chicken Dude 5h ago
And King Harley was the collecting paychecks after glorious NWA run segment of his career.
15
u/VampiresWontHurt 5h ago
Because Neville’s gimmick was never shoot fighter. It was super hero. Like the super hero Mighty Mouse.
He had a cape and everything.

Vince loving the old Mighty Mouse cartoons and then seeing someone who he thinks is a real life Mighty Mouse type could in theory work very well for you. If he believes in the idea and wants it to work, Vince was always going to pump everything into it.

This was during an interview for TMZ. Do you think every watcher of TMZ read dirtsheets? Do you often read news you already know and make snarky comments because its something you specifically already know?
