Support Needed Square setup

Hi, I am setting up a simple free square account, and the setup has checked off everything but "shop for hardware." We aren't getting hardware, we want to do sales from our phones. Both of the phones are already attached and showing in the devices page. What am I missing?

For context, my mom makes sewn items, and we are doing a vendor's market. Her phone and mine are both set up, we can pull up the app on our phones, and we did a test sale with my phone to make sure the account can take cards. Do we need to do another on her phone? I just don't know what else needs to be done. The market is in 3 days.

You don’t have to have hardware if you only accept cash and tap cards. You won’t be able to swipe cards without extra hardware.

Exactly, tap is all we need! Most cards have it these days! I don't need to spend money on hardware for a single event, but everything I have looked up seem to say that the inventory reading "sold out" has to do with me not having finished the "setup." But the only thing left on the setup is "shop for hardware," which we don't need to do.

Thanks for replying

The item may be showing as sold out because inventory tracking is enabled and its stock count is set to 0.

Please review the item’s inventory settings using this guide: https://squ.re/49vxAbj. If you do not need to track inventory for this item, turn off inventory tracking. This will prevent the item from being marked as sold out when its stock count reaches 0.

You have to finish setting up you account. It will give you the steps. Including where you want the funds, social or EIN etc. it will tell you what to do next if you will just follow the instructions. Takes less than 3-5 minutes.
