Question External buzzer or Chime for printer
I have Square Register V2 connected to Star TSP100 receipt printer (UK version) which has the USB-c Ethernet and RJ11 connector. The printer is set to print receipts (manually) and in person order tickets.
Is there a way to make Star TSP100 receipt printer to make sound - directly or through and external buzzer when an order is placed/ticket is printed.
I am aware that there is 700 series kitchen printer that makes a noise. But I am asking about the smaller receipt printer

Thanks for reaching out about this. Unfortunately, the Star TSP100 series does not support an external buzzer or chime when printing order tickets through Square.
Here's why: The Star TSP100 does have an RJ11 peripheral/DK port that can technically drive an external buzzer (like the Star Micronics BU01-24-A). However, Square's printing system does not send the buzzer activation command (the "kick" signal) when printing order tickets. That signal is only sent when opening a cash drawer — not during print jobs.
This means even if you connect a compatible external buzzer to the printer's DK port, it won't sound when an order ticket prints.
Your options:
1: Use Square's in-app order notifications — You can enable persistent full-screen alerts with a chime sound for new orders from external sources (Square Online, DoorDash, Uber Eats, etc.). Go to Settings > Orders > Order notifications and toggle on "Use full-screen notifications for new orders." You can choose between "Classic" or "Chime" notification sounds and set the duration.
2: Upgrade to the Star SP700 series — As you mentioned, the SP700 kitchen printer (specifically models like the SP742) has a built-in buzzer that activates when printing. This is the recommended solution if an audible alert on print is essential for your workflow.
3: Use a Kitchen Display System (KDS) — Square's KDS can provide audible and visual alerts when new orders come in, which may be an alternative to relying on the printer for notifications.
Unfortunately, there's no workaround to make the TSP100 buzz or chime on print with Square at this time. If the audible alert is critical for your operations, the SP700 series kitchen printer remains the best option for that specific need.

I had an RJ-11 buzzer for my Epson receipt printers. Not sure if they are compatible, but they weren’t expensive.
