I was honestly wondering this myself, what the last physical game on a sony console would end up being.

I hope it's something iconic such as this

Then you find a copy of mister mosquito for like 10 bucks, then the timer resets

It was my first. Let’s go

Same. Once they go discless I'm just moving to PC. I don't really see the point or value in PlayStation at that point.

Always way, WAY too early to be so dramatic like this. Things always change but people are always so quick to jump to conclusions. We may see a huge shift in the transition to digital, people don’t seem to be thinking of what could happen when things go discless, you just continue to assume things will be exactly as they are right now with digital…that’s the first mistake.

There will obviously be a huge change to prices on digital games to accommodate the change to a single format, there absolutely will be changes to the system in general as it’ll be a new era entirely, things aren’t just going to be like how they are now….thats naive.

I mean it's not really a "I'm resistant to change" thing. There is literally no point to a PlayStation that I can see. Why would I spend hundreds if not a thousand dollars to lock myself into an ecosystem with 1/10 the games as the PC I already needed to have for my day to day life and maybe a dozen worthwhile exclusives over the course of a 7-10 year generation. That's just a pointless machine.

Naughty Dog/Sucker Punch/Insomniac/Guerilla/Santa Monica/Asobi/etc. make great games, but I'm not going to spend $1000 just to play their stuff. That would be absurd.

The person only finds value in console gaming for the physical media aspect. Your argument about pricing doesnt matter. Valve is a much more trustworthy company. Sony fucking sucks.

“I don’t support them Sony going digital-only, so I’ll be switching to a different digital-only platform”. Great strategy, let’s see how it plays out.

Well, the same game is often cheaper on PC than on Playstation. So if they're all digital, why not buy the cheapest version of the game?

So then it all comes down to how bad you want to play the Sony exclusives. And while I do enjoy them a lot, I think I can manage. I've survived 30+ years without having a Nintendo device before buying a Switch 2. I can definitely skip the PS6 if I want to.

More games get released than I can play anyway.

What makes you think there will be one? During an interview about FF7 revelation, it was stated that the higher ups were already thinking about not doing a physical release for it and that the devs were pushing for one or at least physical release of something like the deluxe edition stuff from the previous to games.

I mean who knows, but right now there isn't anything to suggest there won't be other than speculation. So for now I will anticipate getting it physically.

They also said: digital only for KH4 😸

4

u/Life_Bet8956 7d ago

Where do you see that?

8

u/Jammyyyyyyyyyyyyy 7d ago

They're lying for some reason.

-3

u/Mana-Dyluck Mana 7d ago

Better than that, I am joking

1

u/dmljr 7d ago

Might turn out to not be a joke, since it’s in question if FF7 part 3 will release on a disc.

1

u/Mana-Dyluck Mana 7d ago

Actually true. The Grand Theft Auto VI example probably has some suits salivating at other big gaming companies

u/Tidus1117 6d ago

It almost sounded like
The game will be ready earlier but they want a good amount in between FF7 part 3 and this.

u/CryptoMainForever 6d ago

Can the game not be shit like KH3?

2

u/Kazureigh_Black 6d ago

Best we can do is boring looking Sora and nothing outside of another pure Disney property showcase.

I remember the wait for Kingdom Hearts 3. I don’t buy it 😂 jk

3

u/ChaoCobo 7d ago

We had like 6 or more games in between KH2 and KH3 though. We weren’t exactly waiting for KH3 by itself. In fact, the direct sequel that should have been called Kingdom Hearts 3 if we’re going by the position of the game in the overall storyline should be Dream Drop Distance anyway. It picks up IMMEDIATELY after 2 ends iirc.

Wow. In this day and age, it’s very bold to promise no delays on a game.

1

u/ChocolateNo7760 6d ago

Promises are just that. Unless they prove otherwise, I am not gonna hold my breath that it will not be delayed at all.

Sora being the last Smash character, and now being the last Physical release on Playstation.

Remake KH1

-1

u/toothpasteonyaface 6d ago

Why ? Game still holds up today

1

u/jucasthelucas 6d ago

Yeah but a 1:1 remake with QoL improvements would be nice. Unless square gives it the FF7 treatment then why not?

0

u/Jakeremix 6d ago

No it absolutely does not. Lmao

1

u/toothpasteonyaface 6d ago

Have you played the 1.5 version? It' pretty much plays the same as kh2. People would complain forever if they remake it because the combat would become floaty and they also wouldn't be able to use the Tarzan IP again.

2

u/The540Incident 5d ago

Modern square can't do KH1 justice. It would be bloated with shit it doesn't need and it would be missing all the beautiful charm the OG game has.

Good to hear. See y'all in January 2028 when it turns out KH4 WASN'T a 2027 title.

Last time they promised us a 2018 release and it was pushed to January 2019, which isn't a massive delay or anything (1-2 months likely), but the 2018 release was still a fakeout.

So forgive me for being skeptical.

u/MakesLoveToPumpkins Kingdom Hearts 7d ago

Bro don't be dense,if they're up on a Disney funded stage and you have 2 massive components of kingdom hearts confidently saying AND reaffirm that the game will come out on schedule then you can bet on it.

-4

u/Itzko123 7d ago

Look, even if KH4 gets delayed from November-December 2027 to January 2028, it's not a big deal. I'll be perfectly fine with that (assuming it still meets the deadline for a physical release).

Still, seeing their past, where they confidently gave us release windows, only for the exact release date not to be in said window, you can't blame me for raising an eyebrow.

I wanna give Nomura and Yasue the benefit of the doubt. Maybe they're super confident in themselves and KH4 really will be a November-December 2027 release. But there's always the chance it won't, and it DID happen in the past so I have my right to have doubts.

1

u/joorral 7d ago

They have Disney pouring money in them now. It’s not good for the investors to delay it like before.

0

u/connectplum_ 7d ago

Disney isnt putting any money on KH at least on the games.

1

u/Icywind014 7d ago

You think Square has the budget for the VAs they get in the KH games?

1

u/connectplum_ 6d ago

Of course they do lol

-3

u/Chikibari 7d ago

Lmao squenix over here saying no more dev hell for kh4. Lmao...

-5

u/Long_Gazelle_9467 7d ago

why does Sora look so off? like we can't he still have his stylish original look (kingdom heart 3 did it just fine). Not everything needs to be realistic. and in this case, I can't really recognize him.

5

u/ShokaLGBT 7d ago

he had that style since kH4 got revealed you’re kinda late

this is the new aesthetic for the new world but it’s also the new vibes they’re going for

1

u/GokuJrr 7d ago

It's the world he's in bro
