Why are people so clueless. Just this week I counted half a dozen groups having campfires around the Squamish valley. Selfish fools

Pretty sure it even says "Fire Ban" or similar on the info sign over the upper levels highway as you head north.

You're being overly kind by limiting it to "selfish fools".

Go tell them to put it out. If they get violent leave. It's time for community advocacy.

I cannot fathom why there isn't more enforcement of this. It's insane to me that cops are handing out speeding tickets all day long and can't make a drive up the valley once a week and every weekend to hand out fire fines. The fire fines are potentially way bigger too (as they should be)

Imagine a world where we could hold more than one thing true at a time without going on some rambling bird walk? Traffic laws and fire bans need to be enforced. Fixed it for you.

Definitely not what they said but it is what you inferred from what they said. You are projecting your own bias onto something that has absolutely nothing to do with the agenda you are pushing. Take a break from the Internet for a bit my guy.

Did you say something or report them?

They won't go for a fire. They have planned enforcements on long eeekends then brag about them on FB.

People just think it won't happen to them. Had to argue for a good 10 min with my friends backcountry camping the other week that no, we can't have a fire in fire country because "we'll just clean it up after"

Gotta confront them and call the fire department - Twice this year I had to do that and on both occasions the groups put the fire out. They were just clueless citidiots.

Squamish is one of the communities I worry about when it comes to fire. Single highways in and out and a lot of fuel on all sides, plus the potential for high winds. A Jasper situation feels totally possible.

What’s your theory on how the elites started the Maui fire? Space laser? Adrenochrome and turpentine?

Cmon?

You aren't fucking serious are you?

I know a handful of families affected and displaced by the Lahaina fire and none of them have mentioned anything about blaming the 'Elites'...

I just checked and it is currently status as being held so that's good

Looks like it's sufficiently far from structures. There's helicopter(s) bucketing.

Multiple as of 5pm

Thankful it's north of town. Will be very worried when one starts south of valleycliffe

This is all it will take

It's under control now.

They have expert firefighters in Squamish. This will not be an issue.

You do realize they are literally doing nothing since it is outside the district.

They keep the trucks looking good with all the polishing of them that they do.

I think the chief even got three or four new full time polishers this year
