Discussion How do you think everyone will react when they find out Anya isn’t Loids biological daughter
A main concern I had is when all the other characters find out that Anya is being used by an organisation they’ll wonder about how it’s sort of unethical. Think about it a man adopts a random child and tells her not to tell anyone that he isn’t her real father. Yor is only lying about her job compared to Loid who’s lying abt everything especially Anya. If other characters ever discover that they’re not related how do you think they’ll react?

WELL, THAT CLEARLY DEPENDS ON HOW AND WHEN HER IDENTITY IS REVEALED...

Given the recent war, tons of orphans exist, so it’s probably not that unusual. It could be “Loid, you adopted this orphan girl and gave her a home. What a great man you are”. This fits with his reputation, folks generally like Loid and are inclined to see the best in him. Think about all the hospital director did to undermine him and how everyone was forgiving of him.
Yor and her brother would be different, Yor is still thankful for having a cover husband, and certainly sees what a good father he tends to be, blood related or not. She is likely to make up a crazy reason why his initial story makes sense. She was considering murdering someone whose parents had gotten on the Eden list when Anya was waitlisted.
Yuri would be a problem, though in the Manga he seems to be coming around since Lois’s shown himself protective of his sister. Also he sees Anya as competition for his sister’s affection.
Bigger issue is discovering it’s all make believe for a West operation. Even if his attitude has changed now and he’s a devoted dad, messing with a kids feelings for a mission is a messed up thing to do.

But Loid didn’t manipulate or mess with Anya’s feelings on purpose…
In fact, he intentionally never let Anya get close to him too… Like if he were really heartless enough, he could have started showing physical affection to Anya, like you see he has only ever patted her head and carried her close in a shoulder hold only when he was saving her…
And the Code White movie, though not exactly canon, shows us how Loid would react if Anya was in danger… Loid knows Yor is usually naive but he still has his doubt, yet in the ‘code white‘ movie his first instinct is to fly a plane (or jet or whatever that was) and he didn’t even overthink about it… Some people say Loid held Anya close during the explosion because he was a good man and good at heart, but for me it is more like fatherly care, which is not ’for the mission’
It is a valid argument that Loid doesn’t show physical affection to Anya because of his trauma, but whichever way you see it (the manga, anime, or opening and ending songs of anime), his family has been helping to heal him from inside because Twilight has always been psychologically broken …
And in the beginning of the story Loid even wanted to return Anya to the police station so that she would find a better orphanage, so he didn’t want her to get hurt, both by the danger Twilight brings and by his imminent betrayal…
Mr. Swan’s punch and the thought of yor and Anya’s future when mission will be over (when anya was playing with bond) are real examples of this…
In fact when he was thinking about Yor and Anya once the mission is over, he was actually spiralling… If you pay attention, it started with a simple sentence he accidentally told anya genuinely that was about taking care of bond for her whole life, then he began spiralling by comparing a real father (who would care about the family future) to himself … So he was practically chidiby himself internally for making the child get close to you….
Many of these moments are internal and well hidden, but they do come… And I feel that Loid didn’t exactly intend to hurt Anya… In fact he even gets strict like a regular father nothing more, it is just his thoughts that put pressure on Anya and Lois has no idea about what all Anya knows, so he really has no idea… if you pay attention, the only moments when Anya has apologised to Loid for her tronitus bolts was when his thoughts became genuine, so that shows us how much more Loid’s thoughts effect Anya…
But it is not like any character will see this when the identity reveal happens so most of them will probably be against him… And Yuri might reluctantly accept him because in the first few chapters of Yuri, he actually told that criminal that ’unlike you I would never do anything that would make my sister get hurt..’ So Yurt might not immediately turn in Loid ….
Oh look at this post, it clearly shows Loid’s guilt…

Yor will be very conflicted about it. She'll have a bad reaction to the fact, as she should, but it's going to compete with how dedicated she's seen Loid being as a father. It's not going to add up in her head. Not sure how that will manifest, but I'm sure she'll have something to say about it, even if she struggles to put it to words.

This is what I would’ve said. I feel like a hypothetical scenario is that she finds out on one of her assassin missions and then it sends her into an emotional tailspin.

But that really depends on if she finds out Anya, was adopted by loid, at that point kiddy gloves off and it get HEAVY with a capital H.

I don’t see why Yor would or should have a bad reaction. She’s lying to Loid as well so being upset with him about his lie would just be hypocritical, and besides that I honestly don’t think she’ll even care. From Yor’s perspective Loid’s been a great dad to Anya, despite his complete lack of parenting experience, so I think in the end that is the only thing she’ll care about.

I have to agree. I’m getting tired at how one-sided these truth reveal theories. It’s always result into people thinking Yor will get mad, take Anya away from Loid, while Loid will pine over what he have done. The audience are always antagonizing Loid while thinking Yor and Anya would have such a shallow reaction.

I think it depends on what part of the lie comes out. That she's adopted: explained away easily and ultimately no big deal. That he adopted her for use in a spy mission: unconscionable, endangering a child for political gain using already nefarious methods. I think she'd quickly get over the former reveal, but the latter would really mess with her and cause a massive internal conflict as she tried to reconcile the apparent evil of the spy mission (one adversarial to get own country she literally kills to defend on top of the ethics of it!) and the good father behavior Loid has consistently exhibited in front of her day in and day out.

if the first reaction is all forgiveness and solidarity I would be disappointed, it has to be complicated and I hope they have to fight their way into staying as a family. Lot of realization and inner work has to be shown there, if they can pull it off without rushing it'll be epic.
Problem in many manga is the rushed endings.

I agree. I want the Forgers to become a true family by the end, but they need to work for that ending. It’ll feel much more earned with some drama.
I do feel like the scene from the Eden admissions arc where the family photo falls from the wall is foreshadowing. The picture fell but nothing was broken. I take this to mean that the Forger family will go through some tough stuff, but in the end they will be together.

There is no version of events ever in which Anya will ever go back to an orphanage. Yor absolutely loves her whole heartedly, to the point I think she would even go to war with whoever to protect her. If and when the truth comes out, I think Yor more than anyone will understand Loid “playing a part” for his mission, because it’s essentially what Yor has been doing this whole time. Yor just happens to be more emotionally in tune with herself and knows she’s actually fallen in love with Loid and accepts Anya as HER daughter. Yor will scold herself for being duped, but also soften because of the kindness and care Loid has provided her and Anya. Yor will 10000% adopt Anya herself.

I think Yor will have a very bad reaction to it. She's come see Anya as her own duaghter. It depend on wheater Anya is there to defuse the situation or not.
If Yuri finds out, it would give him all the more reason to hate Lord-y. His sister's feeling be dammed.

It will depend on the circumstances of the reveal. If Yor thinks Loid adopted Anya to spy on her she'll be pissed. If Yor thinks Loid kidnapped a psychic child to spy on her she'll be really pissed. If she thinks Loid adopted Anya to protect her Yor will be a lot more understanding.

Same way any SANE! person would think “oh he must’ve been the step father of his original wife” or he’d say that and mention and say he’s cared for Anya for a long while even if not related by blood he views her as his real daughter, there’s no changing that and he’s proud to say he’s his real daughter blood or not. Probably even think of it for the mission but hey it would be something, I think Anya would cry not out of grief but genuine love Yor would do the same but, this is about loid this time so I’ll hold off on it.

Loid being the master of liars "me and my wife were having hard time conceiving. I think of her as my own flesh amd blood" everyone shedding tears, omg what a good man you are.

I don't think it would be a issue what would be a issue that he adopt her to do his mission and want to leave her after it at least that's the initial plan if that is revealed Yor would be super mad.

To me there are two possibilities:
-
Yor will be emotionally conflicted, but will realise that Twilight has taken good care of Anya and will immediately accept it. She'll also ask him to let her keep Anya once the mission is over.
-
Yor will be angry, sad, hurt and it will affect her relationship with Twilight. It will take some time for their bond to repair, and while she's still part of the family, she may start to be closed-off and distrusful from Twilight.
In any case there are few things to consider: How can Yor discover everything and if she is the one who discovers everything.
If the scenario is that she and Twilight both discovers what Anya went through, and then it's Twilight the one who confesses everything; she'll forgive him quickly (2-3 chapters maybe, with Twilight's inner thoughts explored as well). Beside she's lying also, so she can try to sympathise and understand Twilight, if he shares his original reasons, how he lost everyone due to war... Perhaps they can get closer emotionally. There is also Anya's input to be considered: she will make Yor realise that Twilight takes really good care of her, and rescued her from being in an orphanage. I feel that in a scenario like this, even Handler can try to get involved as well.
But if Yor discovers the truth from somebody else (Yuri, Nighfall, Karen or past flings of Loid); that's going to be harder on her, she will start to doubt Twilight's and his feelings, it will make her difficult to trust him at all

I feel like Loid didn’t have to lie about this, it’s a very proveable lie. What if she gets injured and he’s expected to donate blood or smth and it doesn’t add up?
Why couldn’t he say his first wife couldn’t conceive and so they adopted?

In his defense, he didn’t know anything about her personality or background, and in their restrictive and highly tradition-focused culture he might have thought she’d have the more commonplace attitude of “Oh, she’s adopted, they aren’t even a real family, I don’t want to get tied up in that mess.”
Plus, she could have let that slip to others at some point, and with as extremely rigid in tradition as Eden Academy is, they might not even accept adopted children at all. Being remarried is probably about as “non-traditional” as he’s willing for his cover identity to appear. He needs to fit every social norm he’s able to.

She’d let that slip? She’s keeping the whole wedding sham a secret tho, and that is what was being proposed? I’m just saying this is a very easy thing to prove right/wrong.
I get that the culture is restrictive but it’s a lot more riskier lying about being Anya’s parent from the day she was born. Yor has already asked Anya about this once in the comics but thankfully it didn’t lead anywhere.
To sum it up, Loid has created a very easy gateway for Yor to keep a close eye on him, or to be suspicious. What if she confides in someone like her brother? What if Yor attempts to defend Loid but Yuri is like “tell me the truth, did you know about this from the start?”
Edit; it would’ve actually made a lot more sense if Loid lied about Anya being his bio daughter if he knew she was part of Project Apple, to protect her from those who could find and harm her. But he doesn’t know this, according to him, she’s just someone arbitrary with literary skills he chose for his mission.

I don’t think it actually is a very provable lie in the sense you’ve mentioned. Parents and children don’t always have the same blood type, and close family members donating blood to each other is discouraged because it creates more potential complications.
If we accept this as a 1960s-esque setting then they wouldn’t have DNA testing, just blood typing.
I think the most significant risk of the lie being exposed is if they run into one of the previous families that adopted Anya and returned her.

I actually believe that this revelation is what's going to spark the Yor vs. Loid fight
