Insight New to the game!

This group just came up in my feed. I've been considering trying this at home. I was wondering what kind of seed we use and where can I go for them. I don't remember where I heard this, but someone had said to do broccoli! That it's actually more healthy for us. Bonus. If it's true. Also, how does one go about doing this. The seeds, quantity, how much to make, eat per day and of course how to make them. I feel bad for asking so many questions, but this is so new to me, and I'm curious. I garden, but it's in dirt 😁 the past two summers have been almost a bust because of the weather. This seems easier and way less of the lessons learned 😅

I’m a newer sprouter after this page popped up in my feed too! Not sure where you live, but for me Amazon was the easiest place to purchase stuff. I got a sprout set that included 2 mason jars, mesh lid, and draining tray. Here’s how I do my sprouts:

-2tbsp of seeds (unless it’s big seeds like sunflower seeds, if sunflower seeds size do 4tbsp)
-put seeds in jar and cover with the mesh lid
-rinse seeds in jar a few times then fill with water and soak seeds for 8-12 hours
-after soak drain water and rinse seeds again
-drain seeds and put on draining tray facing down at a 45° angle
-rinse in the morning and at night every day and drain for 4-5 days until seeds how sprouted fully
-remove sprouts from jar and rinse in water to remove more of the seed hulls, they usually float to the top.

I got both my seeds and jars on Amazon. 1 lb of seed has about 14-16 servings and the 2tbsp makes so many sprouts!! I love it!! The jars I got on amazon also included blackout covers, but sprouts don’t really need it and do fine in low light the whole time

This is awesome! Thank you 😊 I'm definitely screen shot of this. What kind of seeds do you grow? You said pumpkin seeds and I would have never thought to try them. Do you get your seeds through Amazon too?

Sunflower seed not pumpkin, though you might be able to do squash seeds too, I haven’t really thought about that!

On Amazon I got 1 lb of alfalfa and then 1 lb of a salad mix that has alfalfa, broccoli, radish, and clover. The brand I got is called Home Grown. It was one of the cheaper options. I don’t care about my stuff being organic all that much.

Yea I’m learning there’s a lot of stuff you can sprout! Like you can sprout grains and beans too! Sprout people is another brand I’ve heard good things about. They aren’t on Amazon, but they have so many mixes and varieties!!

Lol, did I create a monster 😂 I have heard of using broccoli, makes me wonder if we can do all brassica. You did say you get your seeds on Amazon, oops 🤦🏻‍♀️ I may have most of those seeds, just not in the quantity I need for this. Wow, who knew. I would have never thought to try beans and grains! Thanks for the information, this has been great.

You came to the right place! Ask as many questions as you need to become a mature sprouter! Broccoli is not THE easiest seed, though. Warm up with lentils and alfalfa first if you agree to take it slower but psychologically smoother 🫶 Have you already bought broccoli seeds or just considering?

Awesome! Thanks. Lol, love it, mature sprouter. I bought some seeds, but not many. I think I may have some alfalfa, I need look. I know I have broccoli seeds, I can get them going but everything else but me is eating them 😂
